The two current first place teams in the Big West Conference will face off tonight at 6 pm in the Pavilion when CSUN comes to Davis. The Aggies are riding a 4 game winning streak coming into tonight's game. This should be a good one.

I think I'll try and make it out to this game. I haven't seen CSUN play this year but we seem to have pretty close games with them in general. We'll need to hit more outside shots and hold on to the ball.

    Protect the Pavilion!

10-8 CSUN at the end of the 1st quarter. Aggies shooting a dismal 13% but their defense is keeping them close. The Matadors aggressive, harassing defense is giving the Ags fits.

24-19 Ags at the half. Defensive battle by both teams...Ags shooting 24% and CSUN shooting 26%.

Much better shooting in the second quarter. 24-19.

This team can just skewer opponents for brief stretches if the shooters get hot

They finally figured out how to get open shots against the Csun zone. Refs must have a plane to catch as they are hardly calling anything

39-29 Aggies after 3. Great defense by the Ags gave them a little breathing room.

What a 4th quarter. Nice statement made tonight.

Ags run off with it 61-39 while holding CSUN to 25% shooting. Emma Gibb came off the bench and played really well. Good for her!

Couple of historical notes: this was the Ags 28th straight, conference, home court win. Also, the 42 total points scored by the Aggies in their win over Poly last week was the lowest amount of points scored by an Aggie team in a win since 1977.

Great to see contributions up and down the bench. Another strong rebounding performance, too.

Gibb had a nice stretch. She has a good touch around the basket and really gets the team excited when she makes a play. Given her injury history it’s awesome to see her play well.

I'm a believer now. If this team plays at this level consistently we're going to win conference. With Bessolo out and two four-year starters (one of whom was maybe the best player in program history) graduated.

Send Coach Gross her Hogwarts letter, because what she's doing with our recruiting and player development is absolute wizardry

Totally agree. It was fun to watch this team last night. They struggled initially with CSUN's full court pressure and zone, but Coach Gross put the right players in the right positions to beat it. Once the team started to feel comfortable and confident, they just picked it apart and CSUN couldn't do anything to stop us.

The staff definitely has this program humming right now. Yes we lose great players, but players that were either part timers before, or new to the program, step up and produce. Next year we lose 3 talented seniors (maybe only two if Bessolo gets a medical RS) but we have a ton of incoming height and talent.

It seems that the next hurdle for the program is to start to compete regularly with Pac-12 schools. We hung with Stanford this year, which was nice, but traditionally most of our encounters have been blow outs. We need to consistently play at that level and occasionally knock one off. Perhaps that'll lead to better seeds if/when we make the tourney.

One of the Instagram highlights was a missed three, offensive rebound, and then three quick passes resulting a made three.

I think you're right about the importance of competing with Pac-12 but also there's the fact that Stanford isn't a great measuring stick because they're such a consistently good team. It's not too far off from if the men had to play Duke or Kansas every year.

I was encouraged that the Splash Sisters team could hang in the WNIT when actually matched with average (or even above average) power conference schools. As a mid major powerhouse we need to win those kinds of games, but it's more forgivable to just compete against Stanford, UConn, etc
