Excerpt from the Enterprise article by Bruce Gallaudet:

    • Mike Wise Award (outstanding freshman): RB Ulonzo Gilliam, whose 17 touchdowns and 976 yards rushing were team highs.

    • Phil Wells Award (teammate of the year): Backup QB Brock Johnson, who appeared in just three games (102 yards passing and two TDs), but exemplified what it means to contribute on and off the field.

    • Jim Ferrier Award (outstanding transfer): Former Moorpark College standout John Aloma was the team’s long snapper. According to special teams coach Paul Creighton, the sophomore had “zero bad snaps” in 2018.

    • Team captains: Maier, linebacker Nas Anesi and All-American wideout Keelan Doss.

    • Ken O’Brien Award (top offensive player): An honor shared this year by Maier (3,931 yards passing with 34 touchdowns) and Doss (118 receptions for 1,334 yards and nine touchdowns) — the most prolific duo in the high-octane Big Sky. Doss also received the team’s Jerry Norris Trophy as the Aggies’ most valuable and inspirational teammate.

    • Casey Merrill Award (outstanding defensive player): Senior linebacker Mason Moe of West Hills College led the team in tackles (83), sacks (10 1/2) and interceptions (three) as an all-Big Sky selection.

    • Bo Eason Plaque (most improved defensive player): Stockton native Erron Duncan, a junior defensive back.

    • Tony Kays Honor (most improved offensive player): Folsom High graduate Kooper Richardson. The sophomore is a 6-6, 300-pound O-lineman.

    • T. Palmer Moody Award (outstanding sophomore): Former St. John Bosco whiz Jared Harrell. In a healthy season, Harrell caught 62 balls for 896 yards and five scores.

    • Bob Oliver Award (unsung hero): Senior offensive lineman Ramsey Hufford of Newport Beach.

    • George Belenis Award (scout team players of the year): Former Sutter High standout Trever Facey (offense and special teams) and Nick Eaton (defense), a Whitney High grad. Both were redshirt freshmen.

    • YG 5 Hunnid Award: A curiously named hustle honor for another redshirt frosh, DB Chris Venable of Centennial High (Corona).

    • Bob Foster Aggie Pride Award: Dan Plum, a senior fullback who missed 2018 as a result of a previous arm injury, was an inspiration in “doing whatever it took to help the team, even without being on the field,” according to Hawkins.

    • Captain’s Award (presented by the UCD captains): Senior safety Isiah Olave of San Ysidro.

    • Bruce Edwards EVO Award: DB Tiger Garcia, the managerial sciences junior by way of Campolindo High.

    • Rolf Benirschke Award (outstanding special teams contributor): LeGrand High (Planada) graduate Ryan Martinez earned the honor. He also played receiver.

    • Mike Shaw Scholar-Athlete Trophy: Wes Preece, a touchdown-maker from his tight end position, will return in 2019. He’s a Rocklin High grad.
