"Why are all of the Dakota teams always so good?"

No pro-sports. No big time D-1 schools. The closest schools with FBS football are Wyoming, Nebraska, Minnesota.

There would be rioting in the streets if the SEC wasn’t in the playoff.

"Cal's food budget is $1.5 Million... is that just for football?"

But it's all kale, quinoa, and soy based "vegeterian meat" prepared in all-solar kitchens

    I'm in.

Thank you AggieFinn for carrying the load on this.

  • Tim Plough Named New UC Davis Head Football Coach
I think you’re right. American River in Sac.
  • Tim Plough Named New UC Davis Head Football Coach
I recall a story that Davis was looking at O’Brien and Tony Eason. Eason was always a doubtful and went to a D1 school (Illinois??). Little UCD pondering two of the QBs drafted in the first round in the ‘83 NFL draft.

And in FBS Georgia just petitioned the College Football Playoff selection committee to invoke the Sacramento State rule. Last game loss to a rival can’t be counted against you.
  • Hawkins Stepping Down per SacBee
I wonder how much of his decision has to do with being 63 and dealing with the changing nature of recruiting in the era of the transfer portal and NIL. Coaching is becoming a young man's game.
  • Hawkins Stepping Down per SacBee
It's not like those other Aggies, at Texas A&M, who let their coach go this season, just a couple of years in to a $95 (?) million contract and will be paying him sometjhing like $75 million.
  • Causeway Cup 2023-24
Interesting result from one of those fall season events for winter or spring sports: The women's golf teams both competed in an event in Kapolei, Hawai'i on October 23-25, the Wahine Invitational at the Kapolei Golf Course. UCD finished 2nd of 16 teams with an overall score of 863 storkes while Sac, which had a great and young women's team last year, finished 11th at 891. There are a lot of reasons off-season events do not represent what will happen in the scheduled season, and they have never been included in the Causeway Cup results, (back when the schools kept a better track of such things,) so I have not included it in this unofficial tally.

EDIT: The UCD website does include this event and has the score as UCD 31.67, CSUS 5. (The UCD site has not yet been updated for the result of the men's basketball game.)...Sac's website does not have a page for the Cup.
  • Causeway Cup 2023-24
With the loss in men's basketball the Causeway Cup score is UCD 30, CSUS 10.

Next scheduled event is gymnastics on January 7th in Davis.
  • MBB: Sac (1-4) vs the Aggies (3-1) 5 pm Sunday 11/26
Frustrating. I was really hoping for a basketball sweep. On paper it looked like we should have won, but then on paper we should have won men's soccer, too. I guess that's why they play the games.
  • Causeway Cup 2023-24
And with this evening's convincing women’s basketball win the Causeway Cup score is now UCD 30, CSUS 5. Next event, and the final event for 2023, is men's basketball this Sunday the 26th in Davis.

    Go Ags!
  • 2023 Men's Water Polo
I believe this year's championships are hosted by USC at their pool in Los Angeles.

UCD's prior conference, the WWPA, marches on after the reorganization of water polo conferences. It is now composed of smaller schools, but gets an auto-bid to the NCAA tournament. There are no divisions in NCAA men's water polo. Biola University, which usually competes at the D-II level, won the WWPA title this past week, defeating Concordia at the conference tournament in Illinois.

Stanford defeated UCLA in the consolation match of the MPSF tournament, however UCLA is in the tournament as the top seed and Stanford's season is completed. (It's not just FCS football...)

San Jose State won the West Coast Conference championship with a win over Santa Clara. (San Jose State's roster reads like the Budapest, Hungary, phone book.)
  • 2023-24 FCS Playoffs
Our losses to EWU and NAU probably had more influence on the NCAA folks than Sac's win over a weak Power 5 FBS school.
