Davis beat SUU in 2019 33-25. I remember watching that game. They had to use a reserve QB as running back due to injuries.

Doesn’t surprise me too much. With grandkids and Cody now at ISU and being at a “retirement age” I’m sure he had been thinking about it. Glad he brought the program back and I am sure he will find plenty to do. I am going to miss his press conferences. One only has to watch a Bobby Hauck press conference to realize how good he has been for the University.

Chris Peterson would be great, but he’s probably enjoying what he’s doing now. Would be a similar arc as Hawk in that he’s doing TV commentating on FOX games like Hawk did on ESPN prior to returning to HC. His kids are older now. I think Plough would be a good hire too. I thought he was a good OC. This year’s Aggie defense was the best I can ever remember. They kept the Aggies in games and won some. If the defense can stay at this level and the offense can be sparked up a bit, I think that could get them over the hump.

I think it is still a plus to hire someone who has been with the program. I think culture is more important at Davis than other schools. It may have been more so in the past with academic interests of athletes and academic requirements, but even with some academic relaxations after moving up I think it is still important.

This board might benefit from a poster filter function when ignoring does not seem to work.

yes Davis defense better than Sac’s. Bennett and overall team spread very noticeable compared to UND. UND defense doesn’t have the team speed of Aggie defense.

Well defense optional both sides on first drives.

…or justifies selecting Sac if they win … or makes it look like they should have selected Davis over Sac if Sac loses. Endless mental possibilities. I have mixed feelings too, but would not turn down a heaping serving of schadenfreude.

Agreed on all comments. One of my most fulfilling moments as an Aggie football fan was watching Maier, Doss and Ags stomp on Montana in Wa-Griz. I commented to my wife when seeing Montana fans stream out of the stadium on TV something like “that is a beautiful sight” and she made some sort of comment like I was being too harsh. I don’t think she understands the deep disdain I have for Bobby Hauck and his “jerk” behavior/comments. Tulsa was great too.

without a doubt the EWU game would have been a win. EWU had absolutely no answer for him, and Ags were ahead at his departure.

Technically the Aggies did not win every game upon his return. He returned in the NAU game - a disaster of not just turnovers but big turnovers (~90 yard fumble return for TD and an interception returned for big yards). Not to mention not being able to score in red zone.

Good for Lan and the team. He gave 100% effort on carry and pass reception. Amazing combination of balance, strength and speed (especially his acceleration).

Agree if the objective is to maximize playoff changes. Playing a PAC-12 (ok whatever they will be) team (unless a down Stanford team) virtually guarantees a loss. I think better to schedule the Nevadas, San Jose States for your one FBS game if desired.

My bad. I was hoping Illinois State would beat UND to sort of push down UND (or MVFC) at bit in committee eyes, but probably would have made no difference.
