It is too bad that having a third paid assistant coach for baseball was shot down by the NCAA. I cannot imagine why some conferences (Big 10 for instance) turned down this initiative. College baseball seems to be the one sport which continues to receive little to no support from the NCAA. A third paid staff member seems very appropriate with the amount of practice and games taking place throughout the year. Increasing scholarships to 13-15 also seems reasonable. What gives?
