Interesting that all of the known portal offers we have are on guys out of the northeast

Thank you guys for your stories, enthusiasm, and coverage of UC Davis football this season. I haven't had the chance to meet either of you guys personally, but I think you guys are a huge factor in revitalizing at least part of the UCD fanbase. I don't think it's a coincidence that we've seen so many new names around this forum over the course of the season.

I hope that we will still get some off season episodes even if it isn't a weekly endeavor. It's become such an automatic thing for me to tune in, I don't know what I'm gonna do with that free hour now! Maybe there'll be some MW news for you guys to cover soon.

I happened to see the new about Minor and Alexander on twitter

Mario Minor and Markeece Alexander are in the portal now. Both had 1 year of eligibility remaining.

I would say that this news certainly will impact recruiting. Nothing concrete has been released to the public, but I'm sure Rocko and Plough have had extensive conversations about the future of Aggie football. I would not doubt that this is being used in the recruiting pitch to athletes.

I think that we'll see a true QB battle this offseason. It made sense that the QB room didn't see much of a shake up with a new HC coming in, but there shouldn't be a sense of loyalty to the established starter at this point. Wrighster looks like quite the athlete and I heard through the grapevine that Plough compared him to Eric Barriere.

I think Harper for a season is what we are likely to see, but one of the younger guys winning the job would certainly be exciting. I just liked seeing the mobility that Harper and Rasor showed in back up time.

Hiring Vick seems like it would be a desperate swing for the fences on name recognition alone. I'm not saying it's impossible for him to be a good coach, but I'm not sure I would want to hire a guy with no coaching experience to SUPPOSEDLY be leading a team into the FBS.

I imagine we might see some guys from the classes between Plough as OC and HC choose to move on. In this day and age it's pretty unheard of to not have any guys transferring out. I just hope we can get some trench guys coming in to bolster things. Not that we had a ton of places that we struggled this year, but I would say that OL play and pressuring the QB were a few of those places along with DB coverage.

Another realization that I had was that unless we land more commitments in February or bring in transfers our WR room is going to have only 2 guys that eclipse the 6' mark: Laviel Pickett (6'4) and Cole Owens (6'0). Not that the 6' mark is the determinant of being an effective receiver, but our room is definitely on the smaller end and you want to have some diversity in size for different roles on the field.

We're bound to lose Coombs soon. I don't know if it will be this offseason or not, but it will be soon. I think it will also be interesting to see Plough's hiring process play out. Hawkins became notorious for promoting from within. It worked sometimes and other times it very much so did not. Does Plough go the same route or does he do a more expansive search for candidates?

I don't know why there's so many mistakes on the roster in terms of eligibility. It wouldnt take someone long at all to double check that stuff.

You're probably right. I just went off the current roster, but I know that it's filled with mistakes.

The only player that I know for sure that's already in the portal is WR Robbie Mascheroni. I know Plough has stated that he wants to recruit guys that want to be at Davis so hopefully we don't become a program that is a constant in and out.

Over the year we've talked about the post Miles Hastings + Lan Larison era, but I don't think we've discussed how much we're losing at WR. Tompkins, Hutton, Davis was a large part of our receiving production along with Larison. Gbatu is the only WR we're returning who put up notable stats. Dobbins got some play time as well.
