That should have been a walk in score for Lan. No accuracy and no pocket presence.

The all blue is terrible. Not as bad as the gray from a few years ago but not far off.

23 needs to get up the field. The game is too fast for him.

What happened to Simpson at TE? Williams really struggled out there. Missed a block that probably would have put Lan in the end zone and did not look good on the dump offs.

Standard OL size. There are bigger guys in the FCS.

The big question to me is qb play. I really thought the key to this season was Plough finding a mobile qb in the portal. Since that did not happen, he really has to rise the level of play of Hastings. The pocket isn’t going to be perfect, especially today. If he doesn’t see it he really needs to play smart and throw the ball away. Forced balls and attempted scrambles killed the team last year. Going to be a long day if he needs a clean pocket and massive separation out of the receivers today.

Couple of those guys were walk-on players.

Look at the roster. Picked up guys with starting experience at Cal and SDSU and snagged Cal Poly’s top tackler.

The SID office is full of underachievers. They’re doing less with more than the department had 30 years ago.

Can’t run TT between the tackles for a full game let alone a season. We saw how that worked at Poly last year. He’s a perimeter player.

SID office has been lazy and incompetent for two decades. Much like athletic dept administration and the chancellor’s office. No leadership.

O’Brien was a transfer.

Skattebo enhanced his profile at ASU and got paid for the pleasure. Backs only have so many reps in the body and Lan should be done with the free ones IMO.

They did a marginally better job the last couple weeks staying away from most of the things where MH really struggles. That zone read without the read is still crazy as is that roll out. They either need to find some receivers and commit to the wide spread pass game or move on to another QB.

He’s increased the degree of difficulty for his QB, who has a pretty limited skill set.

We have three years of evidence showing that the one thing Hastings does reasonably well is the mid range pass game with anticipation. Cody Hawkins spread things out and gave him some wide open lanes, which don’t require pinpoint accuracy. The plan this year has just been odd and there have been no adjustments. Personnel use on O is also really strange.

Hastings’ development has been perplexing. Someone brought up the Randy Wright comp, which seems apt. Will say though, the changes to the offense really accentuate all of the things that Hastings struggles with. Asking an immobile qb to run so much mesh and read-RPO is a curious strategy.
