There are currently chairback seats unsold on the 50. That means even donors and season ticket holders did not purchase. Truly pathetic. They need to do exactly as you suggest.
Several of the 247 analysts defected to On3 so the depth of coverage has declined and it’s unlikely guys on the cusp of the FBS will get much attention on either platform going forward. Has been a fun few years though.
Not discounting your anecdotes on campus but that’s certainly not reflective of the entire university nor is it unusual for institutions with strong academics to have student support even during finals. This all gets back to Plough’s gripe and being expected to do more with less. It should be a priority to have a show with a sponsor rather than a weekly q&a with Dunning and no microphone. It should be a priority to have someone proof the SID releases and correct the obvious mistakes. It should be a priority to have this game plastered across town the last two weeks, including the student ticket options. These are just basic things that are not being done effectively and the people that should be managing these things are running around touting facilities plans that have zero ROI.
Chair backs on the 50 are currently available. The playoffs are always a good reminder of the limited support this program has and illustrates why expanding the stadium and/or moving up is foolish until there is a real plan in place to compete.
That’s life at this level. These guys generally aspire to make their way up to the FBS or NFL. The AD really needs to create a culture where it is understood that the stepping stone comes with the obligation to kick a$$ while you are here. They don’t have that mindset right now.
That would have been bad. Lan had no idea what he was doing in pass pro at that point. Gilliam was a player.
Josh Gale left last year. He would have been an asset to the team this season as a big slot or TE that could be flexed outside. Different skill set than Ian or Williams. Was replaced by no one.
People aren’t getting it. There’s no deal. There isn’t enough money to feed the players adequately. And these guys are getting offered more money to play in college than any of the Davis qbs made in the NFL. Power 4 football is pro football now and most kids grow up wanting to play pro ball.
It is a two way deal for practical purposes. Most guys in the P4 are on one year NIL packages and a good portion of the kids that wind up in the portal are there because they have been told to move on.
This is exactly right. And the advocacy is part of the reason they had such a solid group of grad transfers. There are going to be some frustrating departures but keep the frustration private and market all of the successes publicly to attract the next crew.
This is about money, not reps. The kids are often not the ones making any of the decisions. There are parents, uncles, street agents, 7x7 coaches, etc. brokering these deals and taking a cut of the action.
In terms of paid attendance that’s actually above trend. Look at the opener this year. If you believe the admin there were 17k for at least some portion of the game. They also said 13k were students, who do not pay. That is a tiny gate.
