That was a tale of 2 quarters. We completely outplayed them in the 1st and they did the same to us in the second. Jen needs to light a fire under her team at halftime. Fresno turned up the energy and intensity in the second quarter and the Aggies fell back on their heels. Way too many wide open and blown shots 2 feet from the rim also by the Ags.

The MW replays are HORRIBLE! It completely destroys the viewers engagement with the flow of the game. I can't believe they do that!

The Aggie website says this is the first time these two teams have met in over 30 years. I found some additional historical information about the previous games on the Fresno State website:

    History with UC Davis

Fresno State is 5-1 in the all-time series with UC Davis but the two sides have not played since Dec. 16, 1985 in Fresno.
In the last matchup, the Bulldogs defeated the Aggies 93-48. All 12 'Dogs who saw the court scored
while four reached double figures. Anne Menke led the team with a season-high 11 points.
The Bulldogs have scored at least 75 points in each of its five wins in the series.
Fresno State is 3-0 against the Aggies at home.

Frenso's Fr twin guards, Hanna and Haley Cavinder, practically beat Poly single handedly on the road in their first collegiate game. They scored 40 of the Bulldogs 79 points on a combined 15-32 shooting overall.

Reading about them made me think about how special it was for us to have had the Eaton twins for 4 years. I wonder if they were on the recruiting radar of the Aggie coaching staff? They would have been a perfect replacement for the Eatons!

Merced native becomes fourth UC Davis student-athlete, second football player to win CSM National Player of the Week

DAVIS, Calif. -- UC Davis running back Ulonzo Gilliam, Jr. claimed Madness National Offensive Player of the Week and Madness Big Sky Conference Player of the Week distinction from College Sports Madness, the outlet announced Sunday. Gilliam becomes the first Aggie to win the overall national award since Jake Maier snared the same on October 15 last season.

The Merced, Calif. product rushed for 242 yards and two touchdowns while adding four receptions for another 13 ticks in Saturday's 45-28 victory over Portland State. The performance hit three significant milestones for Gilliam: it marked the first 200-yard rushing game of his collegiate career, put him over the 1,000-yard threshold for the season (1,055) and made him the ninth Aggie to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a career (2,031).

CHULA VISTA — Running backs, receivers, even quarterbacks can celebrate when they score a touchdown.
    What about linemen?

“Pancake blocks are our TDs,” said Otay Ranch High center-turned-tackle Zak Rachow. “Every time we go to the line, we’re thinking of putting the guy opposite us on his back. First you have to make sure you make a hole for the running back, but you want to drive the opponent back, too.

“While backs get to celebrate when they score, we celebrate, too, when we make a pancake block. Officials are watching the guy score a TD, but because we’re there in the middle of the line we can get away with a few things. But once you get that pancake block, it’s good to just help your opponent up."

Davis High is on roll right now too with their best team in 25 years. They won the Delta League Championship this year after being 0-10 two years ago and won their first round playoff game last night and are now 10-1 while advancing to the second round of the playoffs. I wonder if there are any potential Aggies on the team?
  • Week 11, UC Davis at PSU
As you stated, it's not easy to play in such a dismal environment. Add in some drizzle, fog and cold and it gets even worse. SUU is another venue that can be a potential letdown environment for the visiting team. I was worried about how the Ags would respond to the conditions at PSU but they certainly came mentally ready to play. I think the additional week of rest and time to prepare must have helped us as well.

The hold against Eaton that you mentioned was so blatant that I yelled about it immediately and I was just watching the game on my computer... my wife promptly closed the door to the den on me then! The game would have been a much bigger blowout if we would not have dropped those big gainer passes and if the ball would have bounced our way on a couple of the 6 fumbles we forced. What are the odds that a team will fumble 6 times in a game and only lose one of them?

I hope we can carry the momentum into the Montana State game on Saturday. Hopefully, we'll have a great crowd too since will be senior day as well.
