• Week 2: #23 UC Davis @ #2 Weber State
It's disappointing to hear that some seniors that have been vaccinated are not following safe protocols. It's selfish because, although they are 90-95% protected, they can still spread the virus to others who haven't been vaccinated. That's why it's still important to wear a mask and social distance.

My wife and I have gotten both of our shots now and we will still wear our masks and maintain safe distance from others. I'm sorry to hear that others from our generation are being so self-centered and short-sighted.

Last night on the NBC Nightly News they were talking about how the variants of the virus are spreading rapidly throughout the country and, the states that are opening up completely without mask mandates are particularly vulnerable. There is also concern that there will be large spring break, super spreader gatherings. They said that UC Davis will pay students $75 each to stay on campus during spring break. Seems like UCD is usually a step ahead of everyone else in their determination to keep the campus and the city safe.

Face mask to face mask with an opponent breathing hard from effort would certainly be close contact...
  • Week 2: #23 UC Davis @ #2 Weber State
Fingers crossed that none of the Aggies test positive. Since they most certainly have been in contact with other Aggies that would probably cancel the Weber State game and maybe even the hone opener.
  • Big West Tournament
#10 Cal Poly upsets #7 Fullerton 87-82. Poly hit 12 threes in the game. Poly moves on to play #2 Irvine at 5 pm on Thursday.
  • Big West Tournament
#9 LB State kicked off the men's tournament by routing #8 CSUN 86-63. The 49ers led by 20 at the half 46-26 and held the Matadors to 29% shooting for the game. LB will now play #1 UCSB at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
  • WBB 2021 BWT and postseason
#9 Fullerton came back from a 7 point deficit at the half, 30-23, and outscored UCR 32-21 in the second half to win the game 55-51. Senior forward, Joy Krupa, led the Titans with 16 points and 15 rebounds.

Fullerton forced 28 Riverside TO's so I imagine they will try and pressure the Aggies on defense and try to make the game hectic. The Ags have a big target on their backs since they've been #1 in the conference for so long. Teams are going to really come after the Ags aggressively especially since they now have seen that Hawaii had success with their relentless, scrappy defense against the Aggies. The Ags need to try and control the pace of the game with smart basketball and disciplined pace.

Apparently they had a bunch of guys out for the game with us and now it looks like that was because of Covid concerns. So why didn't they cancel the game against us? Makes me question their Covid protocols...

Strom did not play in the Wildcats win over Idaho State even though they had 10 receivers play in the game.
  • Morgan Bertsch with Scott Marsh
Wonderful interview with Morgan! It's very interesting to hear about what it's be like for her playing pro abroad. She's so honest and articulate and is a perfect example of what Aggie Athletics is all about.

Everyone gets an extra year of eligibility. Hall and Trpcic are seniors and both have said they have not made up their minds yet about returning in the fall and that their decisions will depend upon grad school or playing pro opportunities. Emma Gibb has said that this is her final season.

Bake is always athletic and long and they have quickness as well. They'll be a tough match-up for the Ags.
  • WBB: March 5/6 UC Davis (9-1, 8-0 Big West) at Hawai'i (7-6, 6-5 Big West)
I agree. It's actually a bit of a penalty to play that early but I'll bet that ESPN thinks that the games with closer seeds will be more competitive so they want those games played later for possible bigger tv audiences.
  • MBB: Hawai`i vs. UC Davis, Saturday March 6 at 2 pm
There seems to be a pretty good rivalry between the Ags and Hawaii. The games are often physical and some have been chippy especially the games in Hawaii. The Stan Sheriff Center is a tough place to play for the visiting teams considering travel and the time zone differences combined with the dedicated Hawaii fans who can be tough on the visiting teams.
