Sears OUT at Sac State I think hiring a hometown product like Troy Taylor was a good move by Sac and, if he is able to rack up some wins, he could reinvigorate Sac's all but dead fan base. They could also have an inside track with local high school recruits but they need to be able to cast a much wider net for talent than just locally. On the other hand, the Ags are loaded with coaches that have had FCS and FBS experience both in coaching and recruiting at those levels and, as a UC, we have a lot to offer that Sac can not match.
The Ags have been successfully mining the entire San Joaquin Valley for quite a while and have a great presence in SoCal. We have also landed recruits from Arizona, Oregon and Washington. Sac has a lot of catching up to do and I'm not sure how well a bunch of high school coaches are going to do recruiting outside of the local area.
