I hope they can be the "comeback kids" again today. 51-48 CSUN after 3 quarters.

As has been the case too often lately, the Aggies will need to come from behind again to win today. They trail 37-30 at the half.

There is no doubt that we are capable of winning some games without Chima but it is certainly a huge loss for this team. That can not be denied.

The Aggies are off to another lackluster start and trail CSUN 18-12 after the first quarter.

We don't have anyone who can effectively replace Chima. With him being sent back to Davis on "indefinite suspension" we could be toast. We have no big man with his kind of talent. This could be the straw that broke the camel's back for this team. I feel for the players. Chima must have f...ed up big time. Wow...

Holy crap! That's about the worst thing that could of happened to this team.

I only attended one game at Hughes and can't remember the year. It was pretty much like Goags20172 described. It had an old time vibe similar, but much smaller in feel, to Cal's old Memorial Stadium. The turf was always worn out since Sac City College used it and many high school games were played there each year when it still used to rain in California. They have made improvements over the years including installing artificial turf in 2012.

The stadium was built in 1928 and has a capacity of 20,311. The 2000 "mud bowl" Causeway game was the worst field conditions I've ever seen. I wasn't there but the game was televised. According to Wikipedia the "wind and rain was so strong that a UC Davis punt actually flew backwards during the game." The stadium has been the venue for many professional Sacramento area sports teams over the years and for concerts and even boxing and racing. Pink Floyd played there on April 20, 1988 before 27,000 fans.

I believe the TD pass he caught was something like 90 yards in a driving rainstorm, mud bowl game at Hughes Stadium. Ojo had never played football before he went to UCD because his father his father forbade him from playing in high school..

You are right about how he became a great receiver at UCD. As a Davis student he met Biggs wife, Diane, at church and he told her he wanted to try and play football and she told him to go and talk to her husband. He went from being entirely raw to being one of the great receivers in Aggie history. He was drafted in 2001 by the New Orleans Saints in the 5th round.

Jackson is a very strong looking player but he is young and has not seen a lot of playing time so it's hard to really know how he will adapt to the speed of the D1 game. He certainly has the physicality to hold his own but, from the small amount of playing time he has gotten, he did not look particularly comfortable on the floor. I think Les sees a lot of potential for development with time particularly as a strong physical presence on the defensive end.

Rogers Printup has been hot and cold offensively this season. When he's feeling it he can knock down the 3 ball when he has a good look. His playing time has been limited also but he doesn't appear to be the type of player that can create his own shot off the dribble one on one. He also seems to be a step slow at times in keeping his man in front of him defensively. If his defensive skills improve then I think Les will give him more playing time.

Siler ended up with a hard to come by 15 points of 6-15 shooting but, as usual, his energy and competitiveness was great. It was hard to see him miss two wide open layups in a row in the second half though. The thing you have to love about him though is that he just will not hang his head and quit.

I thought we got some nice contributions from Joe Mooney with 11 points and some great hustle and timely baskets by Michael Onybalu. Garrison Goode defended well as he always does but, man, I sure wish he could make a few of those point blank shots from 4 feet.

Those 3 quick fouls on Chima in the first 5 minutes of the second half had Jim Les going bonkers. The 3rd foul was ticky tacky for sure. The official 3 feet from the play didn't see any foul but the guy 18 feet away blew his whistle. I hate it when an official calls a touch foul that did not put the offensive player at any disadvantage especially when the official right on top of the play didn't see a foul. Arrrrgh!

I was watching the men's game but this must have been a crazy game for the Aggies. The Ags commit 27 TO's but still win the game. Yes, the Ags rebounded very well and dominated the boards 42-19 but, because of the TO's, we actually took 12 fewer shots that LB. The great rebounding was essentially nullified since we would turn around and give the ball back to the 49ers.

Looking at the box score it appears that Cierra Hall caught fire in the second half and ended up with 17 points on 6-6 shooting and 3-5 from the line and pulled down 7 boards as well. Great game for her! Morgan Bertsch had 22, Pele Gianotti 17 and Rachel Nagel 10. The Ags played will when they didn't turn the ball over and had an amazing 22 assists and shot 58% overall.

Turnovers have been a problem for the Aggies especially since the conference games have started. Rarely can a team give up 27 TO's and win and we won't be able to do that against the better teams in the league let alone a very good team in post-season play. Turnovers have become the Achilles heel of this team and, unless we find a fix, this team could end up disappointed by the end of the season.

SB wins over Hawai'i by 2 in OT 84-82.

63-57 Aggies win.

The Aggies overcome 27 TO's to beat the 49ers 83-71.

The Ags are locked in a battle with the 49ers 31-31 at the half. The big TO bug has struck the Aggies again. The Ags have committed 16 TO's already...wow! Jen Gross must be pulling her hair out when her team plays like this.

Nice post, Mike, my wife and I feel the same way. The home winning streak is really special. It makes it feel like every game is a big game and adds to the atmosphere in the Pavilion. I think we are on our way to being able to contend for the BW title every year for both men and women.

I hope Les is able to land another player of the caliber of Hawkins or Moneke. It seems like the better teams in the Big West each year have at least one PAC12 caliber player who is really talented.

Santa Barbara is on the fast track to being outstanding right now. They have landed some 3 and 4 star recruits and Long Beach and Hawai'i regularly get few of those players also. To continue to become more even competitive Les needs to land a couple players with that kind of talent. I think the sky is the limit for us in basketball and I think Les is committed to taking us to the next level.

There is one of those human powered beer wagons in Sacramento and it goes all over downtown and it has become quite popular.
