Deishuan Booker's layup with no time remaining to beat UCSB 70-69 is just what the doctor ordered. So now we play at Irvine for all the marbles...the winner takes the crown. This is the same scenario as last year and the Anteaters trounced us by 30. Time for some payback!!

By the way, that was the 1000th win in LBSU basketball history...good for them.

Great reception for all 3 players and their families. Chima and his mother in tears...heartbreaking...

I just saw the framed montage of photos that will be given to each senior and there is one for Chima

Michael Onybalu and Arell Hennings are featured on the cover of the game program...no pic of Chima...

I wonder if this means Chima will not be part of the Senior Night ceremony?

So does this mean they will not honor him tonight....?? The Bee article indicated otherwise...
  • Chima Moneke Suspended Indefinitely
Hahaha...now that would definitely be disturbing the peace!
  • Chima Moneke Suspended Indefinitely
The part of the Bee article that's is worrisome and does not look good is this:

"What is known is this: Moneke was questioned, but not arrested, by police officers called to the hotel. The incident is being investigated by Detective Thomas Townsend of LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division that handles robberies, special assaults, cold cases and various types of homicides. It is unclear whether Moneke will face criminal charges, a division spokesman said Wednesday."

The Voisin article really sums up this whole situation. This is turning out to be such a terribly sad affair now that his mother, whom he hasn't seen in over 9 years, and his brothers from Australia will be here for Senior Night on Thursday and Chima will be in street clothes.
  • Chima Moneke Suspended Indefinitely
Wow...that is perhaps the most speculative and presumptive rant I've ever read. Please don't consider law school...
  • Chima Moneke Suspended Indefinitely
The Hawai'i home game on Thursday night is Senior Night for Chima, Onybalu and Hennings. I wonder how they are going to handle the pre-game ceremony for Chima assuming he is still suspended. Normally, the players have their family members with them and the PA announcer reads a bio often with stats and honors. Seems kind of awkward now....

Chima hasn't seen his parents in 9 years and, earlier in the season, the Aggie website said his parents were planning to visit him soon to see him play. What a shame it will be if they are here and he is in street clothes and still under the ongoing suspension.

I read where you need to earn at least 6 figures to even think about buying a home in the bay area and better yet if you have two people earning over 6 figures so you can actually have a life outside of your mortgage payment.
  • Chima Moneke Suspended Indefinitely
Just a wishful hunch or something you're privy to...?

$300,000 will help you secure a loan on a $800,000 2 bedroom, 1 bath fixer upper in the Bay Area... :yikes:
  • MBB 5 pm Saturday DH: Riverside (8-19 & 3-10) @ the Aggies (18-9 & 9-4)
The big problem with the Big West officials is that they are so inconsistent. Players have a tough time getting into a rhythm because they can't get a feel about how the game is being called.

There were 41 fouls called in the game against Riverside...21 on the Ags and 20 on the Highlanders but the Aggies had players with 2 and 3 early fouls which forced Coach Les to creative with his line up on the floor. It's maddening when a player gets hammered going up for a shot in the lane and there is no call and yet a player gets whistled for any slight contact on the perimeter. A bunch of the fouls yesterday were of the type where the offensive player would initiate the contact with his shoulder as he was trying to drive around the defender and the defender would end up with a quick, ticky-tack foul.

I think those are needless fouls since neither player is getting put at a disadvantage by the slight contact whereas getting mugged in the lane that results in players crashing to the floor should be called. It's almost as if the officials allow the big men to bang each other around but a touch of the jersey on the perimeter is a cardinal sin. Then to make it worse, one official may being calling the game that extremely close and his partners are not and then, after the half, they seem to change roles...ugh!

They were so many fouls yesterday that the game became a choppy affair which practically sucked the energy out of the players and the fans alike.
  • MBB 5 pm Saturday DH: Riverside (8-19 & 3-10) @ the Aggies (18-9 & 9-4)
Coach Les designed a another great play for TJ. It was very similar to the play that won the LB game. Essentially get the ball to TJ on the second touch when he is already at warp speed and either let him take it to the rim or get fouled putting it up in traffic. He just blew by all of the Riverside defenders.

I hated to see the 14 point lead slip away in the second half but, give Riverside credit, their defense was making it tough and they did a good job stopping our guards from penetrating the lane. We also got in foul trouble and had a short bench with only 9 players suited up. The game was choppy with all the fouls the officials were whistling so it was hard for either team to really settle into a rhythm but the Ags just ground it out again. It may not have been pretty but I'll take it!

The official attendance was 2704 and it was a late arriving crowd that was very quiet until the final two minutes. The Aggie Pack was small and generally silent. I'm not sure what this team needs to do to get some student support...
