The Aggies will try and hold serve at home in their second Big West game when Cal Poly comes to town for a 5 pm game Saturday at the Pavilion. The game is the second game of a basketball double header with the Lady Ags hosting Hawai'i at 2:30 pm. Poly will be trying to stop a 5 game skid but the games between these two teams always seems to be a real dog fight.

Coach Les will want his team to again play defense the way they did against UCSB in their conference opening win on Wednesday. The Aggie defense in that game was exceptional. Poly will put up a lot of 3's so the Aggie perimeter defense will get tested.

JT was out with the flu against UCSB so it's uncertain if he'll be healthy for this game. Chima has continued to be impressive and Siler Schneider and Arell Hennings have shown marked improvement lately and that's been great to see. Production from our bench will be imperative if we are going to contend with the league favorites.

Les has the team playing some solid basketball right now and they've love to move to 2-0 in conference play with win over Poly.

Hopefully, we'll get a nice crowd out to support this team. These double headers make for a great day basketball for Aggie fans. Get out to the Pavilion and support this team. They're working hard and deserve to be supported.

    Go Ags!

Ags up 34-30 at the half. Need to contain CP's offensive rebounding, they've gotten a lot of second chance points

Made our final 8 FT after going 9 for 18. Not pretty but a win is a win. 2-0 in the Big West!

Coach Hawk made this game more interesting. He should work alongside with Scott Marsh for our home games. 8-)

It wasn't pretty but it goes into the W column. The Ags couldn't stretch the lead out to double digits when they had a chance and Poly just wouldn't go away. Every time these two teams get together it nearly always ends up being a dog fight that goes down to the wire and this one was no exception.

Poly had great ball movement, pounded the offensive boards and has players that are quick off the dribble. The Aggie defense had to work hard to keep up with their quick ball movement but did a good job and limited the Mustangs to 37% shooting. But, we gave up 16 offensive boards and shot poorly from the FT line until we hit our final 8 to secure the game 68-64.

The Ags were missing FT's left and right until Brynton Lemar finally stepped up and hit 6 straight in the final seconds and Darius Graham added 2 more. Even then the game went down to the final 1.9 seconds before it was all said and done.

A win is a win and the Ags found a way to keep the lead. 2-0 at home in the Big West is just what we wanted this week.

    Good job Ags!

Enterprise wrap-up on the game with some good action photos and the bottom of the article:

Excerpt: “It was like going to the dentist … and no offense to the dentists out there,” Les said of the game. “It wasn’t pretty, but good teams find a way (to get a win) when they don’t play their best."

I like how Poly puts together a nice post-game video immediately after the game with interviews from their coach and players. I think we should be doing this also. Scroll to the video:
