FCS School (Jacksonville) to drop football
Jacksonville, a member of the non-scholarship Pioneer Football League, has announced it will drop its football program.
This will reduce the Pioneer Football League to nine members in 2020, however Presbyterian College is scheduled to join in 2021.
San Diego loses a Florida roadie, but will pick up a South Carolina trip. those guys travel a heck of a lot of miles!
League teams still get a trip to Florida every other year to play the Stetson Hatters. I imagine folks at Butler, Drake, Dayton, and Marist appreciate the trips to the Sunbelt states.
Makes sense. I know Jacksonville was crappy this year even by Pioneer league standards. The blue hose of Presbyterian have been foundering for years in Southern Conference so essentially a dropping down for them.
Never could figure out why Presbyterian moved from D-II to D-I.
