I really hate the "CA" logo. If it takes considerable time to explain to someone what "CA" stands for, then it's really bad marketing. I wish UC Davis bans that logo.

In contrast I absolutely love it and loathe the double font UC Davis.

The CA logo looks classic and roots us in California. It’s also nondescript. I love it and believe it’s one of the best decisions made by the University.

Thank you for the this! I remember the game well. I was thinking to myself, finally a logo I can wholeheartedly get behind. The Davis script is also great.

I agree with the love of the CA and Davis script personally, looks clean and yet more exciting than that UC Davis logo they use for non athletic advertising

someone in the department told me the CA logo was much more versatile from a graphics art point of view. Scales nicely from a tee shirt to the giant logo on the football field - that, apparently, is very important in graphic design for athletes.

I wish we could get away from the double font logo. We should stick with the classic “UC Davis” near Dutton Hall for non athletic marketing. Everyone takes their picture there when they graduate. The double font logo, not so much.

The sideline store is run through BSN, which as I understand is basically a print on demand operation that can print hundreds of university logos on a catalog of base items. So I think it’s going to be the same couple logo designs superimposed on a wide variety of apparel items with a printable block and not so much specialty designs that need setup per item. But perhaps better pricing due to no minimum stock or physical storefront.

I haven’t been to the bookstore in a few years, but after it changed to UC Davis Stores, it sure seemed like the quality and selection went down and prices went up as they oddly pivoted to selling more general merchandise and tech at the expense of less apparel and imprint merch. No idea why people apparently go there to buy skincare products and headphones at inflated prices.

Is the campus store downtown better?

I haven’t been in several years so I can’t say what it’s like now. When it first opened they had an in-house screen printing machine of some sort that they could do basic Aggie pride shirts for like $12. They stopped promoting that after a couple years and it started to homogenize with the campus store. But idk now.

Its awful if you are looking for Aggie sports apparel.
Its disappointing that they are so averse to selling this stuff in-store. Part of the gameday or campus visit experience is buying a cool shirt or hat. The good stuff is only online.

back in the 90s they used to have a merch tent at Toomey Field. They also had the “Aggie Fanatics” program where you earned Aggie Bucks for going to games, redeemable for certain shirts and promo items. It was a simpler time for merch for sure, but idk why they killed that off.

I’ve been meaning to bring up the Fanatics to people in the department that weren’t around in the Toomey day. Swiped a card, got points and got free stuff. Students love free stuff.

Woodland Costco use to carry some good Aggie swag. I haven’t seen anything there for a few years.

I like prepsportswear.com . You have tons of different options to design what you want. Looks like there are multiple deals going on the site right now. One caveat- I happen to like the CA logo and it looks like most the options here are with the old C with a horse logo which I'm not a fan of. But you can make many designs without the C Horse logo. I have a basic UC Davis Football Hoodie in Black that I love.

I stopped by the Woodland Costco before the game and bought a quarter zip fleece by champion with an embroidered CA logo. There was a pullover hoody that I didn’t buy. Last year before the Illinois State game I did buy a hoody at Costco. Very nice quality. The downtown Aggie store didn’t open till noon so we went to Sudwerk for lunch instead. At the game we saw the playoff merchandise in Edwards. Didn’t see anything we liked. The usual Aggie merchandise spot around the back was closed.

Jdur: The spot I’m referring to is next to the concessions on the West side with a “Merchandise” sign. I believe it was open when we went to the Idaho State game. Years ago when my daughter attended Davis they used to have pop up tents near the main entrance that had nice gear. My wife and I bought a couple of vests and jackets that we still wear.

How much Aggie gear was on sale at Costco?

Movielover: The quarter zip fleece I bought was $39.95 which is probably regular price. I think the hoodies were a little cheaper, but I don’t recall exactly how much they were. I suspect the Aggie gear was out last week for the first playoff game with RI. There were lots of L and XL available. No medium that I usually wear. I tried on the small and it fit perfectly so I bought it. Costco usually marks down clothing so I would look for a price reduction if you live nearby.

I wish we could buy the same collection that the coaches and players get. And it would be nice if the bookstore had a decent selection like they used to.

I drove up from Southern California a few weeks ago. I was surprised at how bad the selection was at the bookstore. I even asked where I can get some UC Davis wine; none of the students knew. We need a better selection available. We don’t even have to reinvent the design. The classic CA logo or even what the coaches use would suffice. I absolutely hate the double font logo. I wish we could move away from it.
