We've all been holding our breath and hoping for the best but, sadly, it appears that Rex Connors has been lost for the season with a torn ligament in his knee:

That the Aggies prevailed despite a rash of injuries especially pleased Plough. UCD will be without Connors, the program’s all-time career tackler, for the remainder of the season after he suffered a knee ligament tear last week against Weber State.

His linebacker twin brother, Porter, did not play as he heals from a foot injury.

Damn that rush for a 2 yard TD last week...

I feel so bad for Rex, but I won't lie and say that I am not somewhat annoyed with the coaching staff over this. Injuries are a part of football, but it's frustrating when it comes on a play that he never should have been involved in. I know Plough will say hindsight is 20/20 and the whole coaching staff was behind it, but putting your star defensive player, a Buck Buchanan caliber player, at unnecessary risk was never the play. Guys have jobs on the field and Rex's was to play safety, not wildcat QB. My heart goes out to Rex... brutal.

The news about Porter Connors is not good either:

The Aggie defense, unfortunately, suffered a double dose of bad news this week when it was revealed that the team’s all-time leading tackler, Rex Connors, is out with a torn ACL in his knee and his brother Porter is out with a possible bone fracture in his foot.

With both brothers out, I wonder whether they would want to apply for a medical redshirt to play together next year. Couldn't find much online about whether the 30% max number of contests is rounded up, but if it is then an 11 game season would allow up to 4 appearances (3.6% rounded up to 4 games) which is what they both have. The Mercer no contest could have been a blessing in disguise for them if they go that route.

Alternatively if the NCAA applies this rule as a hard "cannot exceed 30.00%" then this can be motivation for the team to play 3 games in playoffs for 4 to be less than 30% of the season.

I will say this also isn't just unfortunate for our projection as a team but running that dumb play may have also killed any NFL realities for Rex. It's hard enough for FCS players to make it to the big time, but a torn ligament makes it damn near impossible.

I also realized I hadn't said anything about Porter, I hope that he heals up as well and maybe we see him again this season.

If Rex has another year of eligibility, i would advise him to move on, get the big NIL cash, and increased exposure similar to Teddye.

If they want to play at the next level, they'll likely seek a RS year.

What are the odds identical twin brothers, rarely hurt, go down in the same game, w season ending injuries?

He doesn’t qualify according to the rules but for the NCAA rules don’t mean a lot.
The rule is a player has to play in less than 30% of a teams games. For that to occur Davis need to play 3 playoff games if they don’t count Mercer. 4/14= 28%

I am sorry to hear about the Rex and Porter. They both are great players. Here is wishing both of them a speedy recovery.

If you were a Sac fan you'd be gloating. Poly fans are really great. One of my favorite losing memories was the amazing turnout of Poly fans in 2009 when I think you all were very highly ranked. Looked like a lot of students too. Half the stadium was cheering for you all which brought an electric atmosphere.

Is Porter also done for the season?

No idea what the extent of the injury is, but a safe guess based on seeing a guy in a boot would be that he'll be out 6+/- weeks. That puts him back for MSU as the absolute best case, first round of playoffs if it's not complicated. Praying for a speedy recovery

I forgot to include the bye so that helps

fairly certain its the same foot issue he suffered in spring ball, which required surgery, so it doesn't look good

That’s killer for when we start playing the ranked teams…

Next man up, baptism by fire. We have a QB, RBs, deep receivers (slightly unproven), HC, coaches, full house, DLine... time for others to step in. If we keep TOs low that's huge.
