The Aggies take on a Big 12 school in the Colorado Buffaloes, the second straight road game against a strong opponent. UC Boulder knows how to score, averaging 94.3 ppg. albeit all their wins have been at home against mediocre opposition. To be fair, they have played only Division 1 teams, but those teams have a combined record of 6-13. The Buffalo have a solid coach in Tad Boyle who has been in that position since 2010, an eternity for major college programs. He’s lead Colorado to 6 NCAA tournament appearances.
So far, their top scorer is a 3 star freshman guard out of Campbell HS in LA, Isaiah Johnson (6.5 ppg). He is hitting 53.3% from 3. Their second leading scorer is sophomore forward Sebastian Rancik (14.8 ppg). He teams up with another freshman, Alon Michaeli, a 6’9” 229 lb forward, who hauls in his share of rebounds (4.7 per game) and buckets 13.7 ppg. Their point guard is yet another Big West transfer, this time from UCR, Barrington Hargress. Rounding out the starting five is Bangort Dak, a 7’0” forward who is effectively a center, averaging 7.8 rpg. This gives them a frontcourt that averages 6’ 10 and ½”. This is shown by their 7 per game rebound margin to date. As a team, they move the ball well as evidently from their 17.8 assists per game. A key 6th man is Elijah Malone a 6’ 10” center who can score as well as sweep the boards. He and Dak have pretty much split minutes per game.
It appears that this is the first time UC Davis has played Colorado in men's basketball. This game (should) be on ESPN+.
