The Aggies play the Panthers in Stockton for their 2nd game of the Tiger Turkey Tip-Off, hosted by Pacific. Milwaukee could be another challenging opponent for Davis, as their record is deceiving, with three of their losses to Power 4 schools - Wisconsin, Marquette and Butler..
Jorey Buwalda leads the Panthers with 11.3 ppg, followed by Grace Lomen at 6.5 ppg. Buwalda also carries the load in rebounding at 9.4 rpg, with no one else collecting more that 3 boards a game.
Ryann Bennett continues to pace the Aggies in scoring at 18.4 ppg, followed by Nya Epps (12.0), Megan Norris (11.3), and Avery Sussex (10.9). Norris is tops on the boards at 9.9 rpg, followed by Tegan Young at 4.6. Emmy Ersdala, Sophie Lentfer and Vic Baker provide crucial minutes off the bench.
The 6-2 record is the Aggies' best start since the 2020-21 season, when they started 7-1. Of course, that was the Covid year and UCD's eighth game wasn't until February 13.
If you want full seasons, this year is the best start since 2017-18, when the Aggies started 9-0. That team finished 28-7, and included Morgan Berstch, Pele Gianotti, Eachel Nagle, Dani Nafekh and the Eaton twins.
Sussex injury looked like a pulled muscle… she was on the exersize bic for the reminder of the game…. The team adjusted to her absence and continued to hit 3’s… the first three quarters were excellent… the 4th quarter the ags offense was out of sync.. Milwaukee did a full court press which was effective.. Jenn called timeout and reminded team about how to solve the press.. Milwaukee got within 7 but ags put starters back in…. Aggies have back up parts that need to be addressed … the back door cuts were not open as much as the previous day…Bennett had a solid game with few unforced turnovers…Norris had a solid game and defended well.. a couple of offical calls were bogus on Norris..Young continues to impress in the early season.. Epps is solid on defense and offense…overall another good game..
