KHTK Ends Assoication with Sac Kings

    Not exactly basketball related.......the Kings are ending their 32-year association with KHTK. Their games will now be on the Kings App, SiriusXM and Kings.com, with them producing the whole thing. Good news for us, is that our games shouldn't be preempted on 1140 anymore for KIngs broadcasts. I think we probably pay KHTK for airtime, so hopefully they will remain our radio home for both basketball and football.

    That is good news for us but it must be a pretty big monetary loss for KHTK 1140 so I hope that they will stay viable and will continue to air our games.

    A side benefit...they MAY talk about something other than the Kings during their broadcasts! They do host a weekly interview with Plough, but that's the only mention i ever hear about either school (and Jason Ross, one of the morning guys, is a Sac State broadcaster).

    The sports department at the Bee was recently gutted. I hope this doesn't lead to less local broadcasting on KHTK. Radio is not doing well.
