lmao anyone who puts the current CAA in the same tier as Missouri Valley and Big Sky is being willfully ignorant. Heck you could even argue that the Missouri Valley is in a tier of its own over the Big Sky with his dominant they are in winning the natty. Mid tier Big Sky teams would kill it in the current CAA.

I finally got around to listening to the hack city podcast and wow do I have some thoughts. They seem to have no concept of strength of schedule at all and seem to think winning blowouts against bad teams is a metric to count for seeding. And look, I'm not saying that Davis SHOULD be the 8th seed, but they are really trying to argue that it doesn't matter if you play in the Big Sky versus the CAA. This is not the CAA of old. It's a flat out weaker conference.
  • MBB Louisiana (1-5) at UC Davis (4-2), Monday Nov. 24, 6 pm, on ESPN+
I don't catch many games due to being on the east coast, but I tuned in last night and those railings are atrocious. They literally cut off part of the court. Mickey mouse set up.
  • Pinnick honors
I guess it's time to see if the "Davis guy" mantra holds true. We do tend to have less players transferring out than most schools in this day and age of college football. I'm glad I'm not in the situation of choosing between Davis and potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars though.

I agree that OSU's situation looks pretty bleak at the moment. The main thing they can offer right now is a bigger paycheck and who knows, if he can poach enough talent from MSU he can maybe at least make them more competitive... Like Eck this season.
  • 2026 Football Recruiting
haven't seen any new updates, but signing day is right around the corner.
  • Coaching Carousel
Obviously this is not an official source in any capacity, but that would be a big loss of MSU. I would have to imagine he poaches a lot of players if he were to leave.

  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
I have a hard time seeing a full repeat of what he was able to accomplish with recruiting this time around, not saying it's impossible but he was previously able to sell that they were going to the Pac12, that they had a massive influx of NIL, and that they were going to national championship. Recruits now have had a chance to see it play out for a season and as far as I can tell none of those things came to fruition.

they can keep being angry for all I care. Strengths of schedules don't lie.
  • Coaching Carousel
Again given his overall record I'm not surprised, though I felt like you guys were closer to turning it around this season than in the last couple. Looks like there's going to be a good amount of turnover in the conference.
  • 71st Causeway Classic: UC Davis vs. Sac State
That would require them to admit that their months and months of bs were nothing more than bs. I don't think the ego would allow that.
  • 71st Causeway Classic: UC Davis vs. Sac State
Yes, things certainly can turn around quickly. That being said, I think Sac currently has a lot more stacked up against them than us in the Gould years. We were just bad back then plain and simple. They have coaching, roster, scheduling, and facilities questions on top of not living up to their own predictions of being national championship bound.
  • 2025 FCS Playoffs
Looks like Sac is going to have to hold out for the varsity playoffs I guess
  • 2025 FCS Playoffs
I like the match up. Big travel for whoever we play.
  • 2025 FCS Playoffs
Heck, I think that with the amount of injuries we sustained this season if we were to make it to the quarterfinals that's more than a successful season. Especially considering that it was projected for us to be in a "rebuilding" year with the loss of Hastings and Larison.
  • 2025 FCS Playoffs
    No way! That's crazy!
  • Coaching Carousel
I mean, you can't really justify keeping a coach with an overall record of 38-64... That being said, Portland State seems like the kind of place that most coaches, even outstanding coaches, would struggle to find sustained success. Just seems like very little support from the university and community as a whole.
  • 71st Causeway Classic: UC Davis vs. Sac State
Also did someone finally get through to Dr. Wood that he was making Sac State look like clowns? He was VERY quiet on twitter the entire week. Not a single trash talk post, which was shocking to me... Maybe he was embarrassed about how hard Davis athletics dunked on him with the announcement of Aggie Ascent. I was looking forward to trolling him after the game, but no fun when he didn't post any trash talk leading up to it.
  • 71st Causeway Classic: UC Davis vs. Sac State
Hey cut him some slack. He completed almost as many passes as games they have scheduled for next year.
  • 71st Causeway Classic: UC Davis vs. Sac State
@SochorField ohhh you made them big mad over on their forum lmao. What a wacky bunch they are still thinking that it's Davis' problem that Sac decided to leave the conference on their own volition and now don't have a schedule. I straight up don't understand their belief that we should just bend over backwards to meet their every wish and demand. That's not how the world works, my guys. I think you laid out very valid reasons why it doesn't make sense for Davis to schedule Sac currently and they are having a meltdown.
