  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
If you will need therapy if we go 7-4, then you will probably be institutionalized if we go 10-1!

You'll be able to find plenty of rain gear in Missoula even at WalMart. However, I hope you look good in camouflage. Of course, you could get a fluorescent orange hat with ear muffs to stand out a little better!
  • Week 8: Aggies @ Cal Poly
Coach Gould's conservative approach didn't work very well for us so I would hate to imagine where we'd be if the Aggies followed Walsh's philosophy... :yikes:
  • UC Davis Ranked #6 in STATS FCS Poll
The anygivensaturday.com forum is made up of members who are simply big fans of FCS football. I have always felt that, as a group, they know a lot about the FCS and the varied discussion topics are current and informative. They also conduct a weekly poll and rank the FCS like many of the larger media polls.

Many of the members feel that the AGS poll is the most informed and accurate poll released each week...more so than even the Stats FCS poll or the Coaches Poll for example. To prove this point, professor chaos who is an NDSU fan, conducted some research into the which polls were the most accurate in their predictions as to which teams would get into the playoffs compared to the actual teams that were selected by the playoffs committee.

One might think that the AGS poll would be skewed too much by personal biases but the results show otherwise. In comparing the actual playoff seeds and the at-large selections for each year since 2013 the AGS poll was significantly more accurate in their predictions than Stats FCS and the Coaches Poll.

The latest AGS Weekly Poll has the Aggies ranked #3 and I for one, along with some others here, have wondered if that may be too high for us at this point given the level of competition we have played. Then again, given that the AGS poll has shown that it may be the most reliable FCS poll, maybe we deserve to be #3.

Much worse...most of the field was in standing water!

That mud bowl game was played in a torrential downpour and 6 inch deep puddles. I think it was the worst field conditions I've ever seen.

Good to see that the article said Ojo would recover from his injuries.

I've used a couple of large, plastic garbage bags in a pinch!

Adding to what CA Forever had to say about the Big Sky autobid, it is generally accepted that a team must have at least 7 wins to be considered for an at large bid to the FCS playoffs. Of course, the quality of those wins will be a big factor to the selection committee. Since the Big Sky is considered one of the top conferences in the FCS it is conceivable that we could get 3 or 4 teams into the playoffs.

If we win out I think we would could be seeded as high #3 or #4. If that were to happen we would likely get a first round bye and host a second round game which would be AWESOME!

I wonder if Hawk will pump up the sound volume in Aggie Stadium and have the offense practicing going on a silent count?
  • Week 8: Aggies @ Cal Poly
Poly completed a few nice passes against us but continued to run the ball up the middle even when they were getting completely stopped most of the time...really mind-boggling. I did hear Walsh say that when you average nearly 5 yards per carry, it's hard to abandon that strategy. The problem is that with the kind of inflexible mindset that the Poly offense has, once you they get behind by a couple of scores or more, they're going to be hard pressed to be able to get back in the game by grinding it out on the ground. Simply too one-dimensional...
  • Week 8: Aggies @ Cal Poly
I felt like the Poly announcers were extremely frustrated with the offensive decisions that Poly was making and were doing everything in their power not to scream at the top of their lungs about it and end up getting fired... :yikes:
  • Week 8: Aggies @ Cal Poly
The sluggish (and boring) play calling by Poly didn't help the Mustangs but I felt like our defensive line dominated the Poly O line after the first quarter and that was a big factor in the Aggie win.

I think your son's observation is probably accurate at this point in the season. The toughest FCS opponent the Ags have faced is ISU and we were a chip shot FG away from losing to them. We'll find out just where we really stand when we travel to Montana and to EWU. Our biggest tests are yet to come.
