Great photo...last time I was able to extend my leg up that high I was still in diapers!
  • Week 7: Homecoming vs. Idaho State
ISU certainly sent Idaho home with their heads down and their tails between their legs after thrashing them 62-28. The last time the two teams had met was in 2008 in Moscow and the Vandals won that game 42-27. Idaho had refused to schedule the Bengals since then. This was also ISU's first win over the Vandals since 1995 and they are now 4-1 for the first time since 2000.

“ISU's here. We're ready to play,” Bengals offensive lineman Dallen Collins said. “We're not the little red-headed stepchild — orange-headed stepchild — anymore. … We're happy to play anybody who wants to play us.”

“They loaded the box,” ISU coach Rob Phenicie said. “We've been waiting for this to happen by virtue of our running game. We needed to have the ability to throw the ball.”

“They went up and down the field at will,” Vandals coach Paul Petrino said. “We just got our butt kicked, bottom line.”

“We were able to end the game on our terms,” Collins said. “... It puts us on the map.”

    - Linebacker Aren Manu was ejected for targeting after the first play of the game. He is the third ISU defender to be flagged for the penalty in two weeks. Manu started in place of Kody Graves, who was suspended for the first half of Saturday's game for the same penalty. Becasue Manu's infraction happened in the first half, he will not miss any of next weekend's game at UC Davis.

  • Poll: Best Aggie team ever? Marsh says 2018.
Biggs had some talent on that 2006 team for sure...
  • Week 6: Big Sky
Hahaha...I loved the old steam engine too so maybe it had to do with my Midwest roots as well...and maybe the Bee should hire you to do a tongue-in-cheek column like Bob Dunning does for the Enterprise...

I just came back from 3 weeks in Wisconsin, Michigan and Indiana and the thing that struck me the most this time was just how green everything is...I've been living in brown so long I had nearly forgotten that. Really beautiful and lush...but the humidity that keeps everything so green also turns a mild day into sweltering greenhouse. I don't miss that nor do I miss tornado warning sirens blaring...which happened while we were in the Detroit area...those twisters are so unpredictable and big nowadays...terrifying! I'll stick to firenadoes and earthquake country... :yikes:
  • Week 7: Homecoming vs. Idaho State
ISU put up some insane offensive numbers against Idaho: 754 yards of total offense of which 518 were through the air and 236 on the ground. That's crazy! I hope we're ready to play a full 40 minutes on Saturday...
  • Week 6: Big Sky
Not Big Sky but Elon went into their game at #2 James Madison as a 39.5 point underdog and shocked the Dukes 27-24 and broke JMU's 19 game home winning streak in the process. Like they say...there's a reason they play the games...

...and it's not like an outstanding player here won't be considered by the pros...
  • Week 7: Homecoming vs. Idaho State
This was posted by Mtfan4life over at the anygivensaturday.com forum:

"Let's just all sit back and marvel at the fact that next week UC Davis and Idaho State will be playing each other for a share of FIRST place in the conference. If Weber State takes down EWU, the Davis/ISU winner would be in sole possession of the temporary top spot in the conference. Those two teams were a combined 5-17 just two seasons ago."

How sweet it is to finally be back in the Big Sky as a legitimate contender!

  • Week 6: UC Davis @ Northern Colorado
I think that's true but I also think Hawk let it go on too long. That's too bad because I'm not sure anyone, players and fans alike, came away from the game feeling good about what took place in that 7 minute stretch of the 4th.

Unfortunately, those few minutes overshadowed, what was up to then, an impressive performance on both sides of the ball for the Aggies. I guess if there is a silver lining in what happened, it might be that it should keep us humble and hungry in the games to come.

I wish they'd push the Bossy Cow Cow into The Museum of University Farm Antiques...if you want to turn off the few students we do get to come out to a game...let them hear that archaic ditty...ugh!

Hawk post-game interview: "Obviously, I'd like to finish better but, hey, we're 4-1, got a win on the road, did a lot of good things early and you can't let the last little bit take away from the whole..."

We could have real, track meet shootout in this one!
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ Northern Colorado
The Pluto tv announcers said the same thing during the 4th quarter blitz by NC. They said something like, "This is starting to look like the game that got Hawkins fired at Colorado when the Buffaloes lost the game after leading by a big margin in the 4th quarter." Then when Maier came back in the game for the final series they said something like, "Maier is back in the game. Do you think they're serious about what has been happening now?"

Some media folks call us the Mustangs also. Thank God they didn't refer to the Hornets as the Aggies! :scream:
  • Week 7: Homecoming vs. Idaho State
I watched a good portion of this game and the Bengals looked like the real deal to me. Of course, Idaho is surprisingly weak also which made for an easy romp for ISU. I couldn't stop thinking I was watching a pee wee version of the Cincinnati Bengals looking at those horizontally striped, orange helmets that ISU wears too. This game will be a real test for the Aggies.
  • Week 6: Big Sky
I don't think SJSU is much better than the middle of the pack teams in the Big Sky. Other than Stanford we haven't really played anyone who is as good as the best teams in the FCS.
Our first team offense is certainly potent but we're vulnerable on defense. Every team we have beaten has, at some point in the game, made a good run at us.

I think the ISU game will tell us a lot about just where we stand. At this point, however, I'm not sure how we would do against the top teams in the FCS.
  • Week 6: Big Sky
Really nice win for Poly 41-27. 462 yards of rushing...impressive!
  • Week 6: Big Sky
Hahaha...this game is entertaining. Poly can't stop Sac and Sac can't stop Poly's running game. 14-14
  • Week 6: Big Sky
Sac scores quickly again. Poly's D is porous...
