  • MBB 8 pm Friday: Aggies (7-2) @ San Francisco (5-3)
That would be great. My wife and I and our son will be in SF for 3 days but we will be at the ACT Theater to see a production of "A Christmas Carol" Friday evening so I'll be checking the score at intermission.
  • William Jessup
We lost to Cal 86-61 last year.
  • Aggie London Breed new San Francisco mayor
Tragic news about the sudden death of Mayor Ed Lee. He was the son of Chinese immigrant parents who went on to become a civil rights attorney. London Breed will be the acting mayor until a June 5th election and is the first black female to hold such a position in San Francisco.
  • Jake Maier nominated for Hero Sports Newcomer of the Year
Losing ground...now down 141 votes and in 3rd place.
  • Jake Maier nominated for Hero Sports Newcomer of the Year
JMU has a huge fan base with a long winning streak and are the defending FCS champs. They are the odds on favorite to repeat this year so their fans are paying attention and will vote. We need to spread the work about Jake and get people voting if he's to have a chance.
  • Jake Maier nominated for Hero Sports Newcomer of the Year
Jake has the most impressive stats of the players nominated. Get the word out and vote. He deserves this award!

The Woodland paper is the Daily Democrat and it's still around:

  • Writer critiques Cal Poly football
"Cal Poly should be the No. 1 FCS option west of the Mississippi." Huh...?

Pretty rough article...I do, however, agree with the writer when he's says the triple option is boring to watch for the most part...at least it is for me. When you have the lead in the second half you can methodically grind the minutes off the clock but, when you're behind late and can't pass very well it's another story. I'm sure glad we don't run it.

Did Walsh run the triple option when he was at PSU? I always seem to remember that they ran a wide open passing attack...??

It doesn't appear that there will be any television coverage or online stream either.
  • WBB 1 pm Saturday: Aggies (8-0) @ St Mary's (5-2)
Lauren Walker is currently playing in her first year with the Portland Pilots. I'm sure Jen Gross knew about her since she recruited Morgan Bertsch out of Santa Rosa a couple of years ago.

    http://www.portlandpilots.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=4908

Gross brought in a Sage Stobbart out of Vancouver, BC, and she's redshirting this year. She was ranked as the #13 post player by ESPN. We may see some twin towers offense next year by the Ags when Bertsch and Stobbart are on the floor together.
  • MBB 2 pm Saturday: William Jessop (8-2) @ the Aggies (6-2)
The starting 5 got off to a sluggish start and then Coach Les subbed in 5 from the bench at the 15:00 mark and they really sparked the Aggies to a 23 point halftime lead. Les continued to make full platoon substitutions in the second half giving the entire bench a lot of playing time. The Aggie bench accounted for 47 points to 39 by the starters.

It was really nice to see Arell Hennings and Rogers Printup scoring 20 and 16 respectively. Printup has a nice, soft 3 point shot. He had three big 3's at WSU and was 6-8 from downtown today. I think we'll be seeing on the floor more often now as we can use some help in our perimeter shooting. Hennings plays with a lot of confidence and he can drain the 3 also. It's really good to know that he can be a solid backup to Shorts.

Chima managed to end up with another double double: 16 points and 10 boards. it wasn't one of his better offensive performances though as he was only 4-11 from the field and 8 of 13 from the line. He was not happy again with how much contact he was getting. I think that teams are just going to try and be very physical with him and double and triple him often.

Still no sign of Joe Mooney. I hope he'll be ready to go for the San Francisco game next week. To bad he wasn't healthy for today's game. His shot has not been falling lately and the game today would have given him a chance to work out the wrinkles.

One area the Aggies have got to clean up is blocking out and getting the rebound on the defensive boards. The Ags gave up 15 offensive boards to the Warriors after allowing 21 against Pacific on Wednesday night. That will get us killed against the good teams coming up.

1250 was a lot more than I expected to see in the Pavilion today. Hopefully, by the time we begin league play, we'll be getting over 3000.

So now a week off for finals and then some very tough road games.

    Go Ags!
  • WBB 1 pm Saturday: Aggies (8-0) @ St Mary's (5-2)
This was an outstanding performance by the Aggies. Their defense forced 22 turnovers and they held the Gaels to 38% shooting overall and only 13% from 3. At the other end of the floor the Ags shot 57% overall and 47% from beyond the arc plus 80% from the line. The 50 points by St Mary's was their lowest point total for a game in over 4 years. The two stat lines that do not look good for the Aggies are the 15 offensive boards by the Gaels and 18 turnovers by the Aggies.

The Aggies especially need to work on their rebounding on the defensive boards though as the Gaels got 15 offensive boards and that't a big number. Jen Gross will need to work with her team to find ways to do a better job of blocking out on the defensive boards. Central Florida and Oregon State, up next for the Ags, both have good size and athleticism and giving up a lot of offensive boards could spell trouble for the Ags.

The Aggies made a statement today. Great job Ags!

just saw your post. My wife and I have season tickets in 211.
  • WBB 1 pm Saturday: Aggies (8-0) @ St Mary's (5-2)
Awesome performance by the Aggies! I’m at the men’s game so thanks for the updates eba. Central Florida and Oregon State up next for these high flying Aggies!
  • MBB 2 pm Saturday: William Jessop (8-2) @ the Aggies (6-2)
This is not an exhibition game. This game counts in the win/loss column even though William Jessop is a member of the NAIA. The Ags played them last year on December 17th and won that game 87-64 before only 823 fans. I remember that the Warriors were more competitive than I expected. They played really hard.

The women's game at St Mary's should be a good one. Keep us posted about your thoughts.
  • FCS playoffs
    21-20....can Weber hang on....?
  • FCS playoffs
Weber blocks a last second FG and takes it in for a TD but gets it called back for a hold. 10-7 JMU at the half.
  • No media respect for aggie women
There are two articles up now on the Enterprise website: one is a recap of the win over San Francisco and the other is an article about Cierra Hall who goes by the nickname "Cici." I thought there was a good chance that the coverage of the women simply had not been posted yet and that was the case.

  • No media respect for aggie women
It's hard to believe that the Enterprise did not write up anything but, it's true, there's nothing up on their sports page online. They have the men's recap and article about TJ Shorts but nothing about the women. I wonder if there was an oversight and it hasn't gotten posted. I've never seen them not report an Aggie game.
  • Men’s RPI is 22 in the nation
We're lucky to have him. Now if we could only get more fans in the seats to support both the men's and the women's teams. These basketball teams are creating a competitive culture and we need the fans to and students to do their part to support them. If we can create a great fan base it will help with recruiting too. Players want to play in a full house that's going nuts. We need to make this happen.
