The Aggies lost to Pacific tonight after opening the season with two very impressive wins over Arizona and North Carolina. Pacific entered the contest 0-2 having lost to both Arizona and North Carolina but it wasn't a good night for the Ags who fell 3-1 in a close match to the Tigers (25-23, 26-28, 26-24 and 25-20).

The Ags continue on the road as they head to Provo, Utah, to take on McNeese State on September 1st and #17 BYU on September 3rd. The Aggies play their first 14 games on the road before returning home to play Cal Poly on October 5th.

#9 BYU was much too strong for the Aggies today in front of a big crowd in Provo, Utah. The Cougars downed the Aggies 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-11). The Ags (3-2) now trade to Pocatello, Idaho, for an 11 AM contest with Idaho State. This will be the 6th of 14 straight road games for the Aggies.

After starting the season with two impressive wins over two Power 5 conference teams, the Aggies have been struggling. They lost to Idaho State today in 4 sets (25-18, 23-25, 25-11, 25-23) in Pocatello. The Bengals were 0-5 coming into today's match and had only won one set so far this season.

The long road trip continues for the Ags and it doesn't get any easier as they travel to Los Angeles to play USC at 7 pm on Friday 9/8.

You have to wonder why the Aggies first 14 games of the season are all on the road? They've been on the road since August 25th and don't play in Davis untiI October 5th. I'm assuming that they simply can't get teams to come to Davis but I know some coaches feel like road games build team cohesion and toughness before the conference games start. However, if the Aggies continue to slump and lose a lot matches, it could be demoralizing. All of that travel has got to be tiring after a while and costly too so I'm thinking that many OOC teams just refuse to come to Davis.

It is so hard to keep coming back in Volleyball, but the team has grit. Coach Connor talks about how the team learns as the match occurs and then finds their flow and starts to win games. The hard part of being done is that if you have lulls the other team can win the match. They have been done0-2 twice in conference with their back to a cliff and have battled back. Good luck going forward thiey have a long season still.

The match is scheduled for 1 pm in the University Credit Union Center on Saturday. Aggie fans who plan to attend the football game against Montana at 4 pm could start off the day with this volleyball game first and then head over to the football stadium. A big crowd would be a great way to support the Ags in their attempt to upset the Gauchos. Go Ags!

Ouch--by far the worse loss of the year. Hopefully Dan and team can rally still nearly half the league season in front of them. Would be great if they have a great second half of the season in league.

Volleyball can be such a streaky game. In August I watched Iowa beat Cal Poly, 3-1, at Sac State. Sac then beat Iowa 3-0. Ags beat Sac, 3-1, at Sac. So what happens when Cal Poly, (one of the few teams to lose to Iowa (8-14, 0-10 in the Big Ten.....) comes to Davis? They defeat the Ags, 3-1.

The Aggies started their volleyball season back in August and played 14 straight road games before returning home for a stretch of home games but the home court has not been an advantage for the Aggies as they have lost 6 of 7 at home so far this season. The Ags finally broke into the win column at home with a 5 set victory over Fullerton 3-2 (25-23, 18-25, 25-19, 16-25, 15-9).

The Titans had only won one game this year and are 1-22 for the season and 0-14 in the Big West but they nearly pulled the upset. The Aggies now stand at 12-12 overall and 7-7 in the Big West.

The Aggies season came to an end in the first round of the Big West Tournament as they lost a very close 5 set match to Cal Poly (25-19, 25-15, 19-25, 22-25, 13-15). The Aggies are a very young team and they should be even better next year. The future is bright for Aggie volleyball.
