  • FCS Playoffs Quarterfinals: UC Davis @ Eastern Washington v2.0
    Wow!

    What a great season!

The last 2 games were the best because those boys just balled out!

They had to play 4 quarters of football and compete which was fun to watch.

That OC has got to "skill/level up" on his play calling :(

    Hey movielover,

earlier this year you predicted an entertaining season and you were right! :)

The Aggies exceeded my expectations by far.

I hope this is the start of many competitive years to come and not just a cinderella season.

We've got Cal, North Dakota State and Weber St on the schedule next year.

    Go Aggies!
  • Week 11: UC Davis @ Eastern Washington
    Today:
    • Idaho State lost to Cal Poly
    • Weber State is leading SUU 31-18
    • EWU defeats UCD

    Playoff outlook:
    • Weber St defeated EWU
    • EWU defeated UCD
    • UCD defeated Idaho St.(lost to Cal Poly)

The Big Sky Conference ranking will probably look like:

    Weber St 7-1
    EWU 7-1
    UCD 7-1
Assuming these teams win their final game.

I can see why EWU wanted to pound UCD to improve their position in they eyes of those that are setting the playoff schedules.

This was a successful season and the program has come a long way. This wupping showed there is much work to be done if we want to be conference champs.

If this scenario proves to be accurate I don't see how we could have a home game.
  • Week 10: Northern Arizona @ UC Davis
Tuned in late to see the Aggies winning this one! :)

    Weber def. Sac 26-14

    EWU def. Northern CO 48-13

The game next week will probably determine the conference championship otherwise we will most likely see a 3 way tie for co-champions!
  • FCS Bracketology

I hate to be a Debbie Downer but that criteria gets attention and also include historical data as well.
  • FCS Bracketology
The financial component could prevent UCD from hosting any playoff game even if they are conference champs because of a history of lackluster attendance. :(

  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
    It's up for grabs!

    Current Big Sky Standings

    UC Davis Aggies ==> 5 0
    EWU ==> 4 1
    Weber State ==> 4 1
    Idaho State ==> 4 1
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
I think it is safe to say the Aggies have a legitimate chance to be conference champs or co-champs.

    • Northern AZ lost to Cal Poly
    • EWU is without their star QB for the rest of the season
    • Sac State is having internal problems

A victory over EWU will probably seal the deal but then again...this is an "On any given Saturday..." type conference.

They showed grit today by coming back after MU got into their heads the first half.

I'm looking forward to see what the post season will look like.
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ Northern Colorado

All 3 receivers could have had 100+ yards in receiving today.

These little things are gonna be big things in the 2nd half of the season against our toughest opponents when everything counts!

I hate to sound like an arm chair coach with a know-it-all attitude but I just want these boys to experience success and it is the coaches job to put them in the best position to be successful on the field.

I just wonder if the coaches are not seeing this or they just ignore it.
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ Northern Colorado

Yep! re: Little things like that can kill ya in a close game

And not quickly jumping on what the defense is giving up.
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ Northern Colorado

    Haha...if you only knew lol!

I got frustrated with the play calling in the first half.

I've said this before the Aggies are slow to "take" what the defense is "giving" them.

I know the coaches have a game plan but if we are torching the defense in the air just throw the effing ball and run up the score as quickly possible. There is no need to try to establish a run game if the receivers are that open.

They can always go back to the game plan in the 2nd half when/if the other team makes an adjustment.
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ Northern Colorado
I think it was a good move by the coaching staff...

Last year against SDSU we were able to close the gap in the 2nd half when the 2s and 3s from SDSU came in.

Their coach made the point that developing their depth was more important than a blow out victory and a win is still a win.
The only way to determine how much work is needed to prepare for the rest of the season is to put them in the game and see what you are dealing with.

Hopefully that is what the coaches were thinking because player depth is going to be important if we want to finish at the top(or near) of the conference.

The position coaches have alot of work to do and the 2s and 3s now know why they are not starting!

I think next week will be the first real test in conference play for the Aggies.

    2-0 in conference play...Go Aggies!
  • Week 6: UC Davis @ Northern Colorado
Gonna be a bit chili tomorrow...

Game time (12pm MST) temp tomorrow in Greeley Colorado 49-50 degrees and cloudy.
  • Bob Dunning: It's Time for the Aggies to Move Up to FBS

WOW! Joe Roth and Chuck Muncie

Talk about a blast from the past!

I remember watching a QB at a Grossmont College game and thinking "Who The F---Is That?"

    It was Joe Roth!

I'd never seen a JC QB throw tight spirals with that much velocity and accuracy!

I was not surprised at his success at Cal and was sorry to hear of his illness and early death.
  • Week 4: Idaho @ UC Davis
    Last season...

    2017 Football Standings

    Weber State... 7-1
    Southern Utah... 7-1
    Eastern Washington... 6-2
    Sacramento State... 6-2
    Northern Arizona... 6-2
    Montana... 5-3
    Montana State... 5-3
    UC Davis... 3-5

I think the Big Sky is an "On any given Saturday..." type conference. The spread from 1st to 7th place is only 2 lost games!

I'd be very disappointed if we finished at 3-5 again in conference play this season.

It is up to the coaches to put their players in the best situations to be successful and I hope they have planned for the adjustments opposing defenses will make to stop the Doss and Maier connection.
  • Week 4: Idaho @ UC Davis
    Whew! ***wiping sweat from forehead***

I'm glad the Aggies made it out of the Stanford game pretty much intact and can get ready for conference play.

It's all Big Sky from here on...8 games.

    Idaho
    Northern Colorado
    Idaho State
    Cal Poly
    Montana
    Northern Arizona
    Eastern Washington
    Sacramento State

Everything else is in the past and just doesn't matter.

The Aggies just need to ball out and get the "W" enough times in conference play and finish in the top 3 to begin a new era of Aggie Football in 2018.

The question is "Can the coaches get them there?"

    Go Aggies!
