  • Men's Water Polo Seeks to Return to the NCAA Tournament
To no surprise USC easily defeated Harvard 16-4. SC will play Cal.

Articles talk about UOP upsetting UCD, but UOP defeated Ags in regular season finale, 13-10. UOP finished season ranked #5 while Ags were #8. Ags were down 13-8 with less than five minutes to play and went on a 4-0 run, but it wasn't enough. Heartbreaker, but in the end nothing to hang their heads about.

Final from USC: Pacific 13, UCD 12

Good year for the Ags. Advancing to NCAA semifinals is a big leap. Maybe next year.

Pacific will play top seeded UCLA on Saturday.
  • Slack re-ups Coach Sears' contract.
(Team went from low end of conference to top, thumped the eventual conference champ, greatly improved overall, beat both of the California conference rivals, coach was co-coach of the year in the conference. Only in the SEC would that get you fired. He earned it.)

  • Men's Water Polo Seeks to Return to the NCAA Tournament
Ags will play Pacific on Thursday at USC. TIgers won easily over Pomona Pitzer, 16-2. In today's other game, Harvard defeated George Washington, 15-13, in OT. Harvard will meet USC on Thursday.

Bruins, and Tigers and Bears! Oh my!

    And Sagehens, Colonials, Crimson, Trojans....

    Most importantly, Go Ags!
  • Men's Water Polo Seeks to Return to the NCAA Tournament
And wrong I was. There doesn't seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason to the seedings, but here it is. Pacific will play Pomona-Pitzer on Saturday the 25th with the winner playing Davis on the 30th. USC won the MPSF and is seeded third. UCLA came in second, but is seeded first and Cal came in third but is seeded 2nd. Pacific was ranked higher than Davis all year and beat the Ags in the regular season finale, but has a first round or play-in against Pomona-Pitzer. That may be because Pacific's conference, the Golden Coast, is in only its second year of existence and first year with an autobid to the NCAA's.

    In any event, Go Ags!
  • 2017-18 Causeway Cup
So I guess the running score after the end of fall sports is 15-15.

Sorry, (but take that as you will, UOP is among my back-up schools)...UOP 9, UCI 5. Tigers win the Golden Coast Conference Tournament and earn the conference's first ever autobid.

Last spot should be determined next weekend when George Washington, winners of the Mid-Atlantic, travel to Cambridge, MA to play Harvard, winners of the Norheast.

NCAA's are at USC the weekend of Dec. 2, 3, but there will be a couple of play-ins earlier that week. I suspect USC and UCLA will get the byes. UOP will meet Pomona-Pitzer in one play-in and UCD will meet the east coast champ in the other. Perhaps a rematch of last years play-in against Harvard? Ags beat Harvard earlier this year.

    Or I could be wrong.

    Final: UCD 9, UCSD 6.

Ags win WWPA and earn autobid to NCAA's.

    Go Ags!

(Pomona-Pitzer won the SCIAC tourney and I think (not sure if score is final or partial) USC defeated UCLA to win MPSF title. GCC - Pacific v. UCI starts later today.)
  • FCS playoffs
    ↪CA Forever
Looked at the NCAA site a little closer. USD gets an autobid. They get to travel from sea level to Flagstaff.
  • Men's Water Polo Seeks to Return to the NCAA Tournament
Other semifinal: UCSD 11, Cal Baptist 9

UCD v UCSD at 1:00 tomorrow afternoon for tournament championship and auto bid to NCAAs. This is at least the fourth year in a row Ags and Tritons have met for title.

Other California water polo conferences finals, all tomorrow:
    Mountain Pacific: USC v UCLA
Golden Coast: UC Irvine v. Pacific
    SCIAC: Whittier v. Pomona-Pitzer

    Go Ags!

Top seed UCD defeated #8 seed Fresno Pacific in first round Western Water Polo Ass'n play, 22-7. They will play the winner of this evening's match between #4 seed Concordia (Irvine) and #5 seed Air Force Academy in a semi-final tomorrow.

As the ucdavisaggies.com recap points out, the Ags' season record now stands at 20-6, marking the first time in history that the team has had back-to-back 20 win seasons.
  • Men's Soccer
Pacific 2, Fullerton 1. Pacific moves on to play Stanford.
  • Men's Soccer
Great season for the men. Go Ags.

(Fullerton will host Pacific on Thursday. Winner faces Stanford on Sunday.)
  • Week 11: Southern Utah Thunderbirds
    ↪BlueGoldAg
I think a little Iowa v. an Ohio State, Auburn v. Georgia, Miami v. Notre Dame, Iowa State v. Oklahoma beat down would be a good thing.
  • Week 11: Southern Utah Thunderbirds
Meanwhile, Slack took it to Cal Poly, 49-14, "in a game that was not as close as the score would suggest." Slack is still thinking play-offs.
