As of this moment, the morning of April 14, the Aggie website shows the men’s golf points as being split between the tournament in Arizona earlier this week, where Slack beat UCD by two strokes, and the tournament at El Macero which is being played yesterday and today. The UCD site has yet to be updated for the earlier golf tournament and for Tuesday’s baseball loss, but suggests there are 5 points to be awarded for each golf meet, probably “alternate facts.”

The CSUS site also shows the two tournaments, but reflects Slack’s victory in Arizona, and awards 2.5 points, which makes more sense.

On the bright side, after two rounds yesterday the Ags are in second place, 11 strokes ahead of the 9th place Hornets, with one round to be played today. Aggie golfer Ben Corfee is currently tied for first atop the individual results.

Despite a one hitter, Slack won today's baseball game, 1-0. Running score is now 57.5 to 7.5. A little too close for comfort.

Men's golf finished 5th, two stroke behind Slack, at a tournament in Arizona. Unclear if this counts in the Causeway Cup standings. It has not been there previously, but is now listed, along with 5 possible points, as is the Aggies' own tournament at El Macero later this week.

Ags win first of two baseball games. Running score is now 57.5 to 5. Next up is a return baseball game a week from today.

This whole coaching carousel seems to be a game where schools and coaches are all willing participants. The coach at Florida Gulf Coast seems to have his name in every opening in the country, but says he is happy there and not looking elsewhere. Coaches deny any interest in an opening and the next thing you know they are hiring assistants at the new job.

New Mexico thinks big when it comes to basketball. Looking at coaches from Indiana, Nebraska....They lured Alford away from Iowa, (though at that point I don't think it took much for him to go.) Hard to think they would look at the Big West.

And Georgia Tech in turn falls to Michigan in the WNIT final.
  • Coach Gould
I'm betting that whatever the Junior University can offer will more than make up for any interruption in either of the Goulds' UC retirement plans.

If Washington State were to win the WNIT, they still would not have a winning record on the season.

IF I recall correctly, (always a big IF anymore,) when the Ags made the D-II Elite Eight tourney some players actually took exams on the road. Williams made some comment in a news story about adding being an exam proctor to his duties as a head coach.

Probably don't do that these days at the big "one-and-done" programs.

Congratulations. Three games into a national tournament, all on the road, all against bigger programs. Traveling to the Palouse during finals week, coming back strong and fighting to the end. ....Lots to be proud of. Great future for this team.

    Go Ags.

  • Les Reportedly to Be Interviewed for Cal Head Coaching Position
I think Fox News, MSNBC, and CNN are all laughing at Californiagoldenblogs for the quality of their reporting.

That aside, IF the comments about the internal misworkings of the Cal athletic department are accurate, Cal is a mess and it's no wonder they have trouble with hiring and retaining coaches.

Unnattributed blog reports, but this one says Musselman is in, and there is a lot of turmoil in the athletic department at the Mother Campus.
