  • Potential FCS over FBS games

Obviously he can, and the network hired him, but his post-collegiate football career was known for poor on-field performances, locker room meltdowns, legal troubles including drug problems and reported domestic violence issues.

Good luck to him. He probably faces struggles every day that most of us can’t imagine.

The UI vs WSU game played out like many FCS vs FBS games. FCS team starts out well, even has a lead and then somewhere in the second quarter the FBS team settles down and size, speed, depth kick in. Cougars won, but Vandals gave them a game.

I'm all for giving people second chances, but why is Ryan Leaf broadcasting a game for the Pac-12 network?

Still not used to thinking of this as FCS vs FBS, but Idaho just went ahead of Wazzou on a TD off of a fumble recovery in a game being played in Pullman.

This is the third year for the Iowa QB, Petras. He's from Marin Catholic where he broke some of former Cal QB Jared Goff's school records. Iowa had QB issues last year and one of the reserves left the team after an ill-considered comment in a press conference by Iowa's head coach. Petras has never lived up to his reports. I guess he's a better practice player than a gamer. Ferentz is sticking with him.

I am an Iowa fan by birth and genetics. I can understand the fans' frustration. I won't defend booing your team.

Waving at the children in the Children's hospital started in 2017. That was an empty field way back in the day when I grew up in Iowa City. My parents had a long connection with the Iowa medical school and I was born in the hospital on campus. I wish my father had lived long enough to see the wave. He passed away in June of that year. He'd be a blubbering black & gold mess if he saw it.

This writer predicts an Aggie upset over Cal.

You really have to scroll down to the bottom of the article for this.....
  • Week 1: UC Davis (0-0) @ Cal (0-0)
A little late on the uptake here, but I get Comcast in Sacramento and the on-screen guide has the game being broadcasted on Pac-12 Bay Area.

As does a press release on the Davis website: https://ucdavisaggies.com/news/2022/8/30/uc-davis-football-heads-to-cal-for-season-opener.aspx

I don't know about game time, but I just looked at a weather app and the predicted high for Berkeley on Saturday is 85. Meanwhile Slack State just moved their Saturday kick-off from 6:00 to 7:30 in light of the predicted heat wave this weekend.
  • Doss to NY Giants
Keelan was waived this morning. Sad, but not surprising. Giants had a lot of WRs in camp.

Signing two WRs off some other team's waiver lists on Wednesday was a pretty strong indication of what the Giants' front office is thinking.
  • Doss to NY Giants
The Giants' roster is a chess board with players moving like the backfield in a Canadian Football League game. That is especially true for wide receivers. Yesterday one was back from the PUP list, one tore a hamstring and is out for the season, and they picked up two off the waiver list.

Here is a nice bit on Keelan, but still predicting he won’t survive the final-final cuts:

“Keelan Doss: Doss made the catch of the night in the third quarter when he made a leaping, diving catch of a back shoulder throw for 20 yards. It was a spectacular, one-handed catch against contact. Doss finished with three catches for 34 yards, improving his desultory performance last week. He is a physical blocker and possession receiver who hasn’t been reliable enough this preseason. Still, the numbers might be working against him regarding earning a spot on the initial 53-man roster.

Very Early Roster Prediction: Kenny Golladay, Kadarius Toney, Wan'Dale Robinson, Sterling Shepard, Collin Johnson, David Sills V.”

Apparently he was just about out the door and got a last minute reprieve late Friday afternoon when another wide receiver was injured in practice and placed on the injured reserve list.

3 catches on 4 targeted passes for 34 yards.

I was going to add, 'even without the Santa Clara own goal, if this game had ended in a scoreless tie, it would have been a great accomplishment for the team.'

Earlier this summer the team had an exhibition match against Nevada, played on a community college pitch at Tahoe. That's a nice working break in the pre-season for the team.

UC Davis graduates whose commencement ceremony was impacted by heat to get do-over
    Updated: 11:04 AM PDT Jul 27, 2022
    KCRA Staff
    DAVIS, Calif. —
UC Davis grads who recently had their commencement ceremonies cut short because of the heat are getting a do-over.
A ceremony on June 10 was abruptly ended after at least six people were hospitalized with heat-related illnesses.
UC Davis Fire said it received at least 36 calls for heat-related issues that day.
Now, emails have been sent to all class of 2022 graduates inviting them back to campus to take part in make-up commencement ceremonies.
They’ll be held on Aug. 26, Aug. 27 and Dec. 10 at the University Credit Union Center.
Caps and gowns will be provided at no cost. [Emphasis added.]
