• Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
The traditional college experience that we grew up with is over.Sailorgabe

I'd say 99% of the guys on the Davis roster are living the traditional college experience. Full or partial scholarship, and football. Lan and a couple others got a little extra cash.
I'd say this is the entire FCS.

The FBS is becoming what you are talking about.
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
I think *with the type of guys Sac is bringing in* I think more than a few of these guys were lured by the excitement of a new HC, stadium upgrade, Shaq / Bibby on campus, and an FBS move...basically they were sold on an up-and-coming program. They likely had never even heard of Sac State.
So, I just wonder what this all looks like for these guys when they realize Sac State is really just "Sac State" after all. I'm not saying there's going to be a mass exodus, but I wonder how many guys will stick, especially the younger guys...

If they all get their $$ I guess all could be well....
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
The older guys are probably stuck at this point......but it does leave a lot of younger guys....

    Most accurate replies:
"He will be gone in a year"
"Translation: I don't want the recruits to bail on us"

What are all of these 3-4 star guys going to do when it hits they are playing in the FCS for likely their entire time in Sacramento?

This whole thing looks like its not going to end well.....

This is what I would sound like if I did a 2025 Preview and Schedule Prediction for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns or (any other team I know nothing about)......

    No lie though.....7-5 isn't crazy.
  • CAL AD retires
    Sounds about right!
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
Fascinating....the difference in management styles between the UCD and Sac State Athletic Departments.

The bluster and hubris has made for some great entertainment.
  • CAL AD retires
I'd guess the Cal AD makes 3x what the Davis AD makes....
  • UC Davis Athletics Joining Mountain West - Football to Follow
As far as daily participation AST is near the top of the BSC, right up there with UM and MSU. A ways behind egriz as far as number of active posters. After UM, MSU and UCD....its a huge drop-off. Lately Sac has closed some of the gap.
AST is by far the most civil forum I've experienced, though.

Admin. has been 99.9% hands-off......we hope it remains this way. And I'm sure it will.

  • New Uniforms
I also said people don't read......which looks like the case (myself included...I didn't read all of it. )
  • New Uniforms
We didn't do a great job advertising the UCD / Tahoe research connection. People aren't getting it.....lots of "Davis is 3 hours away" comments. People also don't read, so.....

    Now this is good reading.......

    LOL
Wood and Marion arguing with people on X is such a terrible look.
These guys look SO unstable and delusional.

Just let your actions do the talking and get the heck off X.....
  • Jake Maier and the Calgary Stampeders
To be fair though, the current starting QB is 39 years old (and a future CFL hall of famer, it looks like). Jake may be seen as a replacement when he retires in a season or two? QB3 is some 4th year scrub from Penn State….he's never started a game and coincidentally backed up Jake in Calgary.

Maybe whoever made the graphic confused him with Porter (?)
  • Aggie Pride: A UC Davis Football Podcast
If Nava gets another year, then Mirabella would be next up as the non-returner (?)....
    San Diego State:
    2020 redshirt
    2021 2 games
    2022 12 games
    2023 12 games
    UCD:
    2024 14 games

Was 2020 a "covid" year for him...and the 2 game season doesn't count? So he has one year left??

    I can't keep up!
  • Aggie Pride: A UC Davis Football Podcast
I could have sworn Nava was done after last season......is he trying for another year of eligibility in one of those lawsuits? His freshman year was at a JC, then 3 years at UCD.
If I'd have to guess, I'd say Nava is the non-returner.

  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
You are yelling at the wind at this point. Nobody on this board is satisfied with mediocracy or stagnation.
Don't hold your breath if you want the Davis athletics department to blow up the football program and make a bunch of ridiculous hires and replace entire rosters to mirror the "success" (lol) of Sac State. I'm really not sure what you are expecting here..... What do you actually want to happen?

Rocko has put Davis in a great position to move to the FBS when we have the $, and basically when we want to. This is smart, not desperate. I'm sure Sac doesn't want to be in the position they are in...I'm sure they'd have loved Taylor (who knows if he'd have kept himself out of trouble by this point) to still be around and building for an FBS move at their leisure.

I'm not saying things are perfect, but I'd guess a good majority on this board believe the AD is making positive progress- especially with the recent success of the football program. There are many Universities ADs would love a staff like Plough has going right now. This is what Sac is flailing at trying to achieve right now...

With all this said, I do think some things need to be added to the men's basketball program, and quickly. That program is stagnant.
