Totally agree...i do wonder if either Noble or Dabrowski sit a year. In the past teams tend to red shirt bigs who may still need to develop, but now with the portal, players can move if they don't get playing time right away.

Looks like no surprises to the list of newcomers. I'm excited to see how this teams comes together. Hopefully everyone comes into the season healthy (no more bike accidents, please!) Feels like this team is definitely built different than past teams. Over at least the past 10 seasons, every team has been led in scoring by a guard (Seville, TY, Pepper x3, Manjon, Mooney, Shorts x2, and Lemar). I guess maybe Seville might lead again this year, but it certainly looks like we will be getting a larger percentage of our points from the wings (Stokes, Suljanovich, Massamba, Abosi). And at least we have bigs that have some experience (Musgrave and Szymczyk, along with Chappell, or course). Go Ags!!

Ha!! I’ll accept that title. Actually I’ve got a good buddy who is a licensed beer tasting judge so most of my knowledge comes from him.

Yeah as Russ said, no food there, but they allow you to bring in outside food.

Calicraft is a good addition to the Davis bar/brewery scene. They do make their own beer, I think at a brewery located in Fairfield. Good indoor/outdoor space.

Excellent! More size with international experience. Going to be lots of competition for minutes.

Just FYI, Woodstock's Pizza moved from G St (midway between 2nd and 3rd) to the corner of G and 3rd (that whole section of G st. is closed to cars and there are several places to eat/drink...i'd suggest 3 Mile Brewery which is directly across G St from Woodstock's in a small little courtyard). The new location is a lot bigger than the old, has good outside seating, and plenty of TVs for your sporting entertainment.

Yeah that's a bit disappointing. We really enjoyed the full basketball days with multiple Aggie games. Oh well...

Feels like there might be room for another, maybe a walk-on. Clearly a lot of unknowns with this group.

Excited about Moir. Always good to get more depth!

you may be right. But perhaps a different environment/scheme might help. Nico was a walk on and didn’t play much at ucsb and turned into a solid contributor for us. We’ll have to see.

interesting. I had seen his name as he was being followed by both coach nosek and Vogt, but there hadn’t been any updates since he was at Florida. Always glad to see more size

I looked up Franklin yesterday as I was wondering if he might return. His twitter account shows him at College of Southern Nevada, but I think that's where he was before transferring to UCD. Maybe he'd go back for another year??? And really nothing on Noudjihidi either.

Yeah that’s Hughes. I remember trying to march in the mud bowl. Not easy. Another Aggie victory

This is way out of left field but Julek Dąbrowski out of the Polish league is a 6'10" post player (with some 3 point range). I know the "who he's following" does not really mean much, but I do think it's telling that he is followed by Les and Vogt, and he follows them as well as the main UCDavis twitter page and the Men's BBall page. Maybe I'm reading way too much into this...we'll see.

Can't argue too much with a 7th place prediction. I'd like to think that we'll see a nice increase in production/consistency from Stokes and Suljanovic. There were moments last year where each one of them basically took over the offense...we just need to see those moments more often. Fagbemi and Sevilla will be basically what they were last year (although perhaps a healthier Connor will be more productive in league play). The big question marks are, who replaces Wilson as the "our offense is stagnant, here go bail us out" guy; and, who provides some size in the paint, especially on defense and the boards. Massamba seems like the most obvious step in for Wilson, given his pedigree. We'll see how he looks with an Aggie jersey on. As for size, I'm going to guess we see a lot of Margrave in the middle as he has the most college experience. But knowing Les, our new wings better get used to guarding 7-footers.

And just as a tease, I'm seeing possibly another 6'10" commit for next year. He just finished up his international league so hopefully we'll hear some news soon.

Lets see. Returners (7): Fagbemi, Sevilla, Stokes, Rawlins, Esso-Essi, Chappell, and Suljanovic. HS (1): Caspian Jones. Transfers (4): Veniamin Abosi, Clarence Massamba, Julian Margrave, and Nnadalu Noble. Assuming all are on some kind of scholly, that's 12 (unless I missed someone). Fully funded is up to 15. I doubt we get that high, but it does feel like we could get one more and maybe a walk on. And for those who care about these things, size wise we go 2x6'10, 1x6'9", 2x6'8", 2x6'6", 3x6'5", 1x6'1", 1x6'0". Doesn't really tell us much about the true size of the team as it will all depend on who earns playing time.

Welcome aboard...I don't know the NIL figure (others might have a better estimate), but I'm going to assume that it is pretty low compared to MW standards. But, part of the arrangement in moving to the MW was that we needed to upgrade facilities and pour more money into recruiting.

Regarding the mbb team, we have a very experienced coaching staff. I think you can sum up our teams over the years as doing more with less (we've had some quality players, though). We are never going to wow you with our athleticism or offensive prowess (or size). But no one will work harder on defense and we "usually" play a smart game. As for this years team, it's all going to depend on the transfers (that'\ statement can be made of a lot of teams in the current era). You can usually pencil us in for mid to upper end of the BW standings, so middle of the MW standing sounds about right. But again, we've supposedly increased our recruiting budget, so we'll see if that translates to more talent.

The WBB team is also lead by a very experienced staff. We've had some very good mid-major teams over the years and seem to always compete for a BW title. Not sure how that will translate this year to the MW. I'm going to guess we'll be up near the top, but this current team has quite a few holes to fill. As long as Coach Gross and the rest of the staff is in place, though, I always have confidence that we'll turn out a quality mid-major product.

Already purchased my MW+ account so ready to watch the Ags and all our new conference mates. Go Ags!

Mark went to the St Mary’s in Stockton along with Joe Harden. Looks like this kid was in AZ.
