I agree; SLO Is an easy sell. Just pointing out the player pool shrinks considerably going from EWU to any of the 3 California schools. He hit paydirt with a few kids from my home town that could never qualify for a CSUS or UC.

Baldwin might find it a little harder to get players who can meet SLO’s academics, compared to his days at EWU.

It’s just a weird ‘season’. Weber seems like weeks ago and Idaho a dim memory. I may be up in Davis tomorrow and do a drive through and/or walk by for some part of the game. Be fun to hear a PA announcer booming out of the stadium

I worry about a letdown this week. We have had a habit of being sluggish in the first home game, especially after a big away game. Last week was similar to NDSU, a winnable very physical gam. Now we’re coming home to an empty stadium. Hopefully, we’re focused and ready to peak on offense

agree. Look at our first half of the Idaho game; we were much slower, didn’t tackle well, and weren’t smooth on offense. They were moving much faster than us. Second half, we were a much better team and played at a faster pace.

Poly threw for about 270 but only ran for 50. Very efficient in 3rd down which is surprising for a first game after a long layoff. Good we’ll have done tape on them to prepare. Should be an interesting matchup SUU ran well against them so expect a heavy dose of Gilliam.

We were talking about Davis be a old guy; their frosh QB graduated high school in 2018, so 21 year old frosh! If he plays his complete 4, starting with 2021, he’ll be 25 or 26.

I would be surprised to be seniors return. The women have been remarkable students as well as players and I’d guess they are on target to graduate and get on with the next stage of their lives.

I think we’re digging deeper into the Speckman fly playbook. Seems like I’ve seen more fly action in 2 games than the past 2 years combined

Pasternack came to USCB from Arizona; he was there for their first round of NCAA issues. He seems very mouthy on the sidelines, and interactions with our coaches and players has been heated. They start 4 D1 transfers, something that just rubs me wrong

Russ Turner at Irvine was a Cal guy. Very intense; actually fun to watch on the sidelines. He and Les have had words, which seems to come with the intensity of the rivalry. He seemed set to move on to bigger things a couple years back when they tore through the Big West and won 2 NCAA games; then it came out he was riding an Oregon player named King by calling him Queen throughout the game. That got national negative attention and ut a momentary pause in his career path.

I guess I’m rooting for Irvine tonight. I don’t care for Pasternik at all. Irvine seems to do things more in line with us.
