Fall was tough because the games (home and a few away) and festivities have been so ingrained in our routine for 15 or so years. The spring league? I haven’t gotten into the groove yet so not missing it yet. Maybe after watching Saturday it will seem more real. For now, it has a XFL feel.

I am missing the basketball experience. After I retired, I was planning on coming up for almost all home games ( no worries about getting up early after a long midweek drive home). Not having in person has made it a little harder to get a strong connection with the players. That month long hiatus of course played a big part.

The final game last year we lost on a 3 at the buzzer against really good D was a heartbreaker

The formula for UC pension has 3 components. Average salary over last 3 years, number of years and an age factor. The age factor changed several years back but the way mine was (I’m old) is that it varied linearly from 1-2.5% dependent on a retirement age of 50-60. So, 2.5% is cap if you take retirement at or after 60. I think the new formula starts at 55 and caps at 65.

So, for example 20 years at age 60 would be a multiplier of 20x2.5=50% of the average salary.


If they can opt out of the pension and get money out into a 401k (403b for UC) that’s probably a better bet.

What’s the format? I would think 4 bottom seeds ‘play in’ to set up an 8 team tourney? I don’t recall seeing the plan.

I used to like the old format where top two seeds byed into the quarters, 3-4 got one bye. Gave the regular season more emphasis

Via the Big West site, we are in 3rd winning percentage wise. Not sure how that will translate to seeding when cancelled games get mixed in. Love to see a season ending sweep of Hawaii but think split is more probable

I was following on live stats and the thread line showed ‘Davis scoreless in last 2:30’ then ‘last 3:30’ and finally ‘last 4:45’. Luckily they were scoreless in last 5:00!

We have several guys in foul trouble with 12 to go. I’m following via game cast cuz 3 grandkids are here. Not big bball fans at 4,4 and 6!

Seems like Saturday games have a lot of fouls. Lazy defense and a desire to keep tempers at bay?

you jinxed it! Missed 6 in a row. Both teams a bit sloppy the last few minutes

thanks; I couldn’t watch most of the game until the end. Koehler hit some key FTs down the stretch. I think Les liked him in at the end got that and that he’s a smart defender. I wish his footwork was a bit better down low cuz he often gets the ball with a clear path when defenders are pressuring us late in the game

you mentioned the blocked shots - was Koehler a victim of many of those? He was 1-11 from the floor (rest of the team was shooting about 46%).

Our defense will keep us in games even when our shooting is just okay. The defense in the last couple minutes was impressive. Poly had to take a lot of clock to finally get a contested shot. Koehler and I think Squire had a double team tie up in the last minute that essentially ended the game.

looks like Les is taking advantage of the ‘free year’ to give some young guys time without risking losing eligibility. Last weekend, we saw Ran Pehka get quality first half minutes, today we got Bora. Bora seemed like he met the challenge well

Going ‘4-out’ with 2 minutes to go trying to milk the clock, but poly couldn’t take advantage of the lack of offense. Defense was outstanding down the stretch as was FT shooting. Sweep tomorrow
