slipping into 6th wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. start with (likely) UCSB and then have to beat Fullerton to get to Irvine. I don't see anyone beating Irvine. They defend really well, and have multiple scoring options both inside and out.

his was an odd situation; he never showed up this season on the roster so it wasnt like he was going through a traditional red-shirt. looking through his twitter (not something i normally do), it looked like he was tight with many members of the team, including staff. sounds like a good kid, and he showed signs of being a quality player -> hope it all works well for him. he's having a good exit, so i think Les and company will help him find a good spot to continue his career.

Also after being swept last year v Fullerton, we really needed a win to get some confidence vs them. I didn’t watch but it looked like our defense rose up. Outscored them 20-2 off turnovers! What a log jam from 3 to 7 in the standings. Hawai’i will be tough but I like our chances at home, and should beat UCR. Finish 9-7? That would be solid

Bob Williams pointed out that their guards pressured our guards ALOT and we didn’t handle it well. Mooney and Silar never got good looks. Gonzalez was okay, and Squire penetrated well, but that was it. Bigs had looks, but didn’t finish.

we currently sit alone in 5th at 6-6, CSUN is just below us at 6-7. ahead is Hawaii (7-6) and UCSB (8-5). looking at the Gaucho's schedule, we have to go at least 3-1 to catch them (and hope LBSU and/or CSUN helps us). this is a big one if we want to finish 4 or 5 (no real difference in the tournament).

we were on a nice FT roll after the Hawaii debacle. We had a stretch with 23-23, 10-14, 11-12, 10-11, 11-15. The last two 9-16 and 8-16. Not sure how many of the 8 misses last night were front ends of 1-and-1, but there 4 or 5 points we gave away if we just shoot decent. Silar was 11-15 from the field, rest of team 11-38 (less than 30%). Somebody (s) have to step up. Hope this is the resurrection of Silar. Showed sparks of it vs Beach, lights out last night
