• Chima Moneke Suspended Indefinitely
Isaw your post on reddit I think that thread was maybe about a week ago :)
  • Toler back to Cal
Bulldogs DC likely wouldn't be able to buy anything in Yolo County for less than 400,000 and really maybe 600,000 for anything good in Davis or Woodland.
  • Name your favorite Sac eatery / place
My friend who was a Davis undergrad and is now working at Sac State took me to Fox and Goose for breakfast once. That place is really good!
  • Lady Bird - Sacto & UC Davis
Lots of the local churches (First Baptist, DCA, Chinese church etc) have a local partnership or have national denominal affiliations (Lutheran, Catholic, CRU) with the on-campus fellowships. Those who are involved with the campus fellowship are more likely to attend church on Sundays. Some of the Chinese or Korean churches heavily draw from the international student population. As someone who was involved in that circle of campus life, of the established fellowships, only IV (Professor Enderle is one of the leaders) had no official link to one of the town churches. While you didn't have to go to that fellowship's partner church, most usually go there due to convenience or familiarity. Of course, the really large fellowships had people attending other churches in town too.
  • 2018 schedule released
For Idaho games, would the team fly to Spokane and bus to Moscow or would they fly to Lewiston?
Yeah, CP would be a massive pain for the non California teams. I mean even with a charter, you'd probably get no closer than SB?
    PSU: Duh
    Weber: SLC
    Montanas (both): Missoula and Bozeman.
    EWU: Spokane
Sac State: The Hornets would probably fly from Sacramento to LAX to NY-JFK before connecting to SFO and driving to Davis getting hopelessly lost in the Death Star before realizing they just aren't going to win and call former mens BB coach, Gary Stewart to get help.
Not sure about NAU and NoCo?
  • 2018 schedule released
I think UCLA, U$C (sorry I'm also a Cal fan), and ND have never played FCS teams. They are the only ones.
  • 2018 Recruiting List
Okay guys, I think I had it mixed up. Deshawn Jackson WAS going to play for their baseball team, thats what I remember but he decided to only play football after his first FB season there. Marshawn didn't play Baseball but did compete on the track team as well.
  • 2018 Recruiting List
I'd like that! I remember Marshawn Lynch or Deshawn Jackson at Cal playing on their baseball team and it was pretty cool.
  • MBB 7 pm Thursday: UCSB (18-5 & 7-2) @ the Aggies (16-7 & 7-2) Game Thread
I always like when the Ags beat UCSB. My younger brother is a Gaucho alum so we enjoy talking sports when our teams play. We support our teams, but we follow other Ags/Loco sports more than hoops. This is all for fun.

Either way, I think its going to be tight without Chima.
  • 2018 Recruiting List
Do you think Gramlick could consider playing at Dobbins in the springtime too? Or do coaches ike Hawkins and Vaughn have deals with each other prohibiting their scholie guys from playing other sports even if it doesn't interfere with main sport/academics?
  • LA Times says Napolitano to cut UCOP budget by 50%
I think the state politics would not allow for a true overhaul at this point, particularly in the area of the Health Systems. The state pols are less overawed at UC than in the past. It is kind of interesting as when we were the Northern Branch, gradually all of Cal's Ag-ish programs moved to Davis over the course of 15-20 years.
  • On the lighter side of things
Atleast those local teams will play us for midweek, but I think you are pretty spot on.
  • On the lighter side of things
Thats because Schott, the former co-owner of the A's is a graduate of Santa Clara University :).
  • Doss to NFL or not?
I found it originally on Reddit, but here's the tweet they were talking about: https://twitter.com/ESPN_Schick/status/953671983866277888
  • Doss to NFL or not?
A new rumor says that CFB and MBB may allow transfers to play immediately. This could kill G5 and FCS teams.
  • New woman’s sport
Great post as always. Well reasoned. There's a difference between a member not having Baseball and dropping the sport. I think it would be difficult for them to drop Baseball because the BW views itself as a Baseball/Soccer/VB conference that competes for championships. Football would be easier to cut, but chopping football would meat heavy opposition. So hard because Baseball is my favorite sport, but I can't imagine UC Davis without football. Traditionally that was our identity in athletics. Mind you, as opposed to Sac State's identity of mediocrity in football paired with an academic program which is ranked lower than ours.
  • New woman’s sport
Who would have thought that the so-called "liberal"and so called "conservative" positions on AA would be flipped esp impacting a traditionally conservative sport like football (in the traditional sense). Not trying to inject politics into it, but if you think for a minute it is actually quite funny.
  • New woman’s sport
What Mens sports could have the potential for cuts if the numbers don't match up?
  • Death of the enterprise? Sac bee?
There is nothing like reading a good paper over breakfast and coffee or tea. I'm at the age in which everyone my age or younger than me has little experience with newspapers, but everyone older than me has. The Bee sometimes does good reporting, but in comparison to other papers, it falls short esp in sports. After the Kings, you might get a series on Sac State (all glowing of course). But maybe a token Davis article as if to appear unbiased.
  • Cutts out as HC at UCR
I agree with all of you. This reflects on the AD and her department. That said, the writer has produced some nice pieces on wealthier Cal Baptist (UCR's crosstown rival) and she may unfairly feel like UCR is attacked often. But, what a foolish reaction to a ill-advised firing.
