The campus term is admission by exception (ABE). My understanding is that it is rarely used, and sometimes it's for a technicality - one class shy, one class doesn't transfer.

I believe the ICA goal is to match the same ABE use of the general campus for undergraduates. We aren't admitting student athletes w 2.3 GPAs. These are excellent students.

The Spring game should be interesting.

Charles Barkley nails it - will the NCAA be ruined because of policies for 1% of the athletes?

Will these changes hurt female athletes and education for many?

You wrote: "My son follows “all things” Stanford. He told me they were looking for a reason to show Taylor the door. Shortly after he took the job, i was told by a really good source that Taylor would not work out, mainly bc he could not effectively deal with Stanford politics and the “Stanford way.” "

Not a cultural fit? If that's so critical, why don't they vet for that?

Then why did POTUS select Scott Bessent, treasury secretary? The hedge fund manager is the highest-ranking openly gay official in US history.

And Ric Grenell and Tammy Bruce? Or Jacob Helberg, undersecretary of state for economic growth, energy, and the environment. Not to mention the ambassador to Belgium (Bill White) and Art Fisher, ambassador to Austria. But let's keep it local.

I agree w previous posters. Too many unknowns. We may learn more as time progresses.

I've read about Fresno City College pushing out a highly successful men's basketball coach, wild accusations, he was eventually terminated, and now has won multiple legal verdicts. Bungled investigations, millions in legal fees, very sad.

Correct. But we don't know TT side of the story. What if he reformed his ways, is still direct, and he's dealing with a hypersensitive woke employee?

I dealt with an off-kilter woman who I was on friendly terms with twenty five years ago - we went to lunch, grabbed coffee, chatted for well over a year. UC grad, smart woman, working below her level of education. Then suddenly one tense interaction, and it became a mini nightmare.

On a Stanford Cardinal fan site, new possible revelations / allegations come forth.

branner Wrote: "Thank you for posting that NBC Bay Area report, which includes at roughly the 1:00 mark images of the purported O'Brien report. To the extent the O'Brien report is real, it appears that source of the original complaint is a male who identifies as a female and that the department employs multiple such individuals. Given the accusation by this person that Taylor discriminated against "her" both for her gender and sexual orientation, it must be the case assuming the document is real that the original complainant is a male who presents himself as a homosexual female. That information was left out of the ESPN report to bias readers against Taylor. Many people would be sympathetic to the plight of a female staffer in a male-dominated football environment. They will have far less sympathy for a man in the athletic department who dresses as a woman but still prefers to have sex with women.

"This kind of stuff is why Stanford is not likely to be able to compete in football with, say, SEC schools anytime soon. Anyone who thinks high school kids from the south, or their families, are going to be okay with cross-dressing staffers in the football program is delusional."

We have a lot of hoop alums who have had success.

Gus Argenal at DII CSUSB has been successful and previously was an assistant coach at the University of Arkansas, "where he helped lead the Razorbacks to a Sweet Sixteen and an Elite Eight appearance" over two seasons. He won 23 games this year, and 27 last year, only losing the championship game.

Some are high on Brandon Laird, now at Idaho. Local guy.

Danny Yoshikawa has spent 5 years at St. Mary's College. As head coach at West Valley College (Saratoga) he recorded a 144-47 record for a .753 winning percentage over five seasons. He also coached in Japan for two years, and logged time at UCSB and USF. SMC: "He compiled an impressive 100-29 overall record in his four years as a player, and as a senior, was honored as the Conference Player of the Year and UC Davis Athlete of the Year."

There's at least another six promising coaches.
