Man, it's such a shame that we can't fill out the stadium for playoffs. I know most FCS teams struggle with attendance this time of the year, but still...
Saying "saves the program" is a lot easier said than done at this stage in the game. They have no conference, no schedule, and now a history of administration that fails to follow through on pretty much any and all promises. Was Taylor an excellent coach for Sac in his previous stint? Yes absolutely, but the dynamics of the job have changed so significantly since he last held it. I'm not sure how you, as a coach, sell that program to recruits now unless Wood bows out.
I will say, at least you can admit that you were wrong on this one unlike our friends across the causeway. The folks over on the Sac forum are struggling to come to terms with the fact the administration lied to them and believe that it will be easy enough to bring in Troy Taylor to fix it now. I'm not so sure Troy doesn't look at this situation and say "naaah, I'm good"
Unfortunately for that fan, the damage has been done. Even before Marion left, everyone (except for some hornet fans apparently) saw what a mess things had become. Maturity went out the window a long time ago and I don't think it's that easy to get back. I don't think coaches are going to be champing at the bit to take this position
I mean, is it obvious that someone will? They have no conference, no schedule, a bunch of players about to hit the portal, and an administration that made a million promises and delivered on none of them. I don't think it's inconceivable that the program simply doesn't recover from this.
that's not an uncommon practice and sometimes high 3 stars get upgraded to 4 if they sign with a SEC team. I'm not saying you're wrong, just I can't corroborate 1 way or the other.
I'll reserve judgement until seeing the onfield product. Everyone thought that Marion was a home run hire and while Sac had more wins than they did the previous season they missed the mark on fulfilling preseason hype and promises.
according to 247 going into yesterday they had 34 commitments and 16 decommitments... Of the 34 commitments only 11 signed their LOI... Wooooooof. 50 different commits at one point in time down to 11 signees, they can smell the BS.
