I agree, but I do think its a bit limiting for donors, fans and recruits to feel really solid in what our plans are in the next few years. Its like we are doing literally EVERYTHING except announcing our move for football. Announce facility renovations, join and FBS conference for ever other sport and then... it would be helpful to know.

I 100% agree. I think Rocko needs to come out and say what are goal year is to move up, especially since half of the world is confused about our status in the MW next year as it is. Coming out and saying ""Football's goal is to move up by 2030...." seems like a realistic response that would absolutely expand our donations. Right now we seem like were in this weird kinda limbo. Don't go out and talk a ton of crap, just throw it out there for donors and recruits that we have a goal hopefully by (blank) year, it would boost investment substantially, especially if we are trying to raise money for renovations.

They are going into the big west (the conference we are leaving) for all other sports.

Where in the hell is he getting 975M from? Like that number mixed with the 600 million number doesnt seem realistic in the slightest.

“It’s a $675 million media valuation, so over the five-year agreement we have, we go from where we’re at right now to that $675 million media valuation,” Wood said. “The exposure of the university on a national stage has a significant increase on the value of a Sac State degree. You have students who will graduate from Sacramento State, and their degree will be worth more in the marketplace.”

What is he talking about dude. I get the whole idea of trying to get brand recognition but..

Yeah that deal is really bad. Like selling the university out bad. I'm all good giving us a few years and getting our renovations and money lined up before joining the MW then doing whatever they are doing.

I feel like they could easily setup a better done version of the bar area they have by the video board in the time being. Also improving the concession areas seems pretty realistic by the entrance where its basically cinderblock squares.

I agree, I have sent an email to the departments twice now (DCM and Athletics). First response was early on and they basically said that they are in the timeline planning stage. Sent an email a few days ago and waiting on response. I agree with you on that queue issue, hoping that the AD and DCM are in tandem working on a quicker timeline, especially since it seems like the plans have already been drawn up.

Yeah I look at that website of projects more often than I should  . I always look at the interactive map they have that seems to be updated often to see if it has started.

I agree with @AggieFinn that they need to be aggressive in progress or actual timeline assignments of projects beyond "like 5 years" to keep Aggie Ascent actually on peoples minds and not become this folder of renderings sitting in the black hole of university planning. Maybe at the Wine Fundraiser coming up in 2ish weeks Plough or the athletic staff will have an update on it. I think its really important (especially after resigning him as coach and spending all this time on these big plans) to actually put them into action if we want to solidify ourselves as a top FCS program, even more if we are planning to move to the MW. Getting those premium seating options and expanded concessions is an important step in the programs future, and it seems like now we have really hit this stride of ascension in the past few years that we need to tap.

I was wondering the same thing. I will be curious when they actually start working on it.

Wasn't it the plan to get the renovation done in the next 5 years?
  • UC Davis Baseball season begins @ Texas
Rough final game. Ags lose 9-1. Nothing to hang our heads about long term, Texas could win the national championship. Happier to see the Ags get some offense against that pitching stuff though.

Thank you Gabe! Have a great time. Any items you are planning on bidding on in particular?

I think getting the club suites built, and then announce new seating on the other side with a MW football announcement in 2028 or something sounds plausible. An announcement like "UC Davis has been ascending, and today we announce our transition to the FBS as a member of the Mountain West conference, in addition to a renovation of the east side of UC Davis Health Stadium will prepare Aggie Football for the future".

I think something like this on the student side and/or filling in a berm in addition to the current new suites would have us easily at the MW level. Get us to 20k and we would be realistic in capacity needs for now and ready for the MW.

The credit union is not part of the UC Davis administration?

I also think that the stadium plan in the early 2000s was pushed back from being built out to 30k because of steel prices being outrageous at the time.

I don't see why we would have moved all our other sports to the MW if we didn't have a plan to move to the MW for football? The administration moving all sports out of the Big West to the MW and not having a plan to eventually move our football team (our most popular sport) to that conference makes no sense. I will be as disgruntled as anyone if the university doesn't have that planned out, but I really just don't see any explanation of that happening. Moving to the MW in all sports first just seems like a smart way around insane fees to move to the FBS if we joined as a football only member in the next few years.

I also think to prepare for the MW for football, adding the new suites section that are already planned and filling in a grass berm (where the chancellors tent is right now) or adding additional bleachers on top of the student section side could easily get us to a stadium ready for FBS. I think aiming for a capacity of 18-20k would be a realistic plan to join the MW.

Thats what I was saying, I don't think the MAC with Sac will draw even close to Davis if we join the MW and play those teams. I'm just saying if sac can have really good seasons in the mac they will get some national exposure.
