• Potential FCS over FBS games
Absolutely. Iowa punter is very good and limited SDSU offense has put them in a perpetual hole. Countless false starts too.
  • Potential FCS over FBS games
whoever makes next score (if anyone can) wins.

SDSU has had several injuries in this game. Also a targeting.
  • Potential FCS over FBS games
Baseball score just in from Iowa City.
    Iowa 5
    SDSU 3
    Gronowski injured.

Both my in-laws were Iowans (Des Moines). I couldn’t imagine them booing - but don’t know that they were that much into football - I know my mother in law (Valpo grad) was not.

Morowski attended Marin Catholic as I am sure you know. I was on baseball team with him at UCD. He played - I didn’t for the most part :-).

We’ll the further east and south you go, the more of a religion college football is. The “funny” (sort of) thing is that they have a new “tradition” (sounds like an oxymoron) of waving to the kids in the childrens hospital behind the stadium at the end of the first quarter. So smiles and goodwill for that moment to pivoting to boo your own team. I guess they mentally partition things/behavior.

Iowa - South Dakota State 3-3 at half

    Total offense (yards) at half
    SDSU 76
    Iowa. 58
Old school Midwest game or what?
Iowa leaves field to a chorus of boos.

Chris Peterson a Fox Sports analyst says lowa strategy is good defense and special teams and don’t mess it up on offense. Well so far iowa is messing up offense.
  • Potential FCS over FBS games
SDSU MVP of first half - Iowa QB. Iowas fans booing own team. Iowa up 3-0 with 4:35 to go 1st half. Jacks have ball on Iowa 38 after interception. Issue is that Jacks have shown 0 offense against tough iowa defense
  • Potential FCS over FBS games
SDSU hanging with Iowa. Pretty much no offense by either team - but a lot of Midwest pounding defense. Only points an iowa field goal simply due to field position advantage due to iowa punting.

Two offense starters (including Kraft) dinged up.
  • Potential FCS over FBS games
William and Mary over Charlotte 41-24 - but is is Charlotte who got thumped by FAU.

However W&M looked real good. Strong running game and good pass rush. As Archie Bunker said “Jeez of course they won, it’s two colleges”.

but that would be no fun ;-).
  • Big Sky Games week 1 (Thursday) and where to watch
yah, field position. Lousy punt coverage on that setup SJSU. PSU also had that punt that was touched by receiving team player who wasn’t thinking (or thought Kelly has touched it).
  • Big Sky Games week 1 (Thursday) and where to watch
Portland State definitely looked better than SJ State. The inability to punch it in from the 1 yard line in first half and the inability to get just 1 first down on their last drive sealed their loss. Portland’s QB looked very good (he is mobile too) and Beau Kelly had a big game. Portlands 3 turnovers didn’t help but were’t turned into scores. PSU is going to give some folks problems in the big sky.
  • Week 1: UC Davis (0-0) @ Cal (0-0)
problem has been that our offensive line and running attack has not been overpowering (flashes but not up to the best on the big sky) so we do need production out of our qb. Maier (with Doss) provided that. If we had a defense like the Montana Schools and Weber we could have different expectation of qb production. But even as such, I am not clear that Hastings is the best option in any case.
  • Week 1: UC Davis (0-0) @ Cal (0-0)
Cody Hawkins referenced a “new quarterback” in his video. Hastings is not new.
  • Week 1: UC Davis (0-0) @ Cal (0-0)
well it’s a third-party source and maybe Dunning has a bad source, so I still have hope some Dixon or Newman will troy out as starter. Experience is fine, but it has to be backed up by (good) performance. I’m going to real bummed if Hastings starts against Cal.
  • Week 1: UC Davis (0-0) @ Cal (0-0)
No chance of winning with Hastings. Aggies were never in games versus good teams with him. I just don’t get the bias towards Hastings with Hawkins. Nothing against the kid, but if you want to win and improve you go with someone else. I had thought Newman would be the logical choice with a bit of mobility and his experience. Or give Dixon a shot if he has the strong arm and is decently accurate.

Hope Dunning is wrong. Maybe just surrender any chance of win and find a quarterback within the first 2 games.
  • Week 1: UC Davis (0-0) @ Cal (0-0)
Chris Brown (running back) was the reason Cal won in 2019. Aggies couldn’t stop the guy especially in second half. He changed his name after 2019 I believe.
  • Week 1: UC Davis (0-0) @ Cal (0-0)
My father told me all about that game and Dick Bass.
  • Week 1: UC Davis (0-0) @ Cal (0-0)
Game notes are pretty obviously not official as many of us have noted errors. I don’t know if there is any ncaa regulation that requires staff to release personnel info to the opposition. With all of the HIPAA stuff, seems like everything is much more secretive. SIDs I would think handle this stuff.
  • Week 1: UC Davis (0-0) @ Cal (0-0)
agreed. QB play is going to be a large part of how successful this season will be.
