• Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
is the press conference posted somewhere?
  • Week 4: UC Davis @ Weber State
i may have missed it but I don’t think we have had people express that Hastings should start over a healthy HR. I think some have made the observation, with some evidence, that HRs accuracy was not at its usual level as the game progressed. My personal opinion is that It wasn’t just hitting his head on the turf that caused whatever physical symptoms he experienced, but the combined result of a lot of hits he took in the game. Just a bit earlier he was knocked out of bounds in a way you would expect to cause whiplash. I even think that had he been fresher his head wouldn’t have hit the turf on that dive. I think he was trying 100% with an empty tank.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
    I’m sure not his decision.
On the second consecutive long pass to I think it was Harrell along the sideline near the end zone the defender actually grabbed the receiver by the front of his jersey. Their defenders pushed their luck on the pass interference calls all game and then their fans and announcers moan when it’s called. If your always walking that line it’s going to get called sometime.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
I think there is no way there will be an indication who will play. I don’t even think there will be an indication who is practicing.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
I think HR got beat up in that game, but played his heart out. We need to be little more conservative with his running, he only weighs 170lbs, he can’t use Trent Tompkins as a role model
I agree about TT, it was cool that they had him in for first series of the third quarter and the last play of the third quarter. They might have been giving HR a little more rest in addition to half time. Kind of like the warriors used to do with Curry, adjacent to the quarter break.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
    I’ll be the devils advocate.
They have the same record this year as we would likely have if we played their schedule.
They see that we were outgained by Weber and were lucky to win.
They see that we gave up 27 points to a team that was averaging 5
They see that fortuitous turnovers led to our win over Tulsa
They see that just like them we were 5-7 in 2019, and while our 3-2 was better than their 2-4 they have excuses, like playing Eastern the second time with no quarterback available.
They see they were competitive in the spring game.
  • We're Number 40!!!
when my daughter was at UCLA you could get a scoop of ice cream between two cookies for a buck in Westwood. QED
PS. Don’t put USC in there.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
One very impressive thing about the Aggie offense is the way we finished the Tulsa and Weber games where we had to string together first downs to either end the game or put us ahead. Those were clutch drives against good defenses. It looked like we wore them down.
  • We're Number 40!!!
it’s clearly better than Cal. (Disclaimer my daughter went to school at UCLA for eight years)
Would you rather be in Westwood or Berkeley? Would you rather go to Santa Monica or Emeryville? Oakland or Los Angeles?
Not to mention if you’re interested in health care, the best hospital is on campus. Its better the UCSF because UCSF is split between several campuses.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
Maybe they’re just jealous of Boise, an upstart JC that passed them by as the state hi profile team.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
Agreed, we should be favored. They didn’t come close to stopping us in our first game with a new OC and new QB. We were very tentative in that game with HR making his first start, he didn’t throw a pass until late in the second quarter If my memory serves. Then they were helpless to stop him. Our running game ran through them at almost 5 yards a carry.
There is more parity in the Big Sky than appears in the rankings and we have to respect Idaho. But we were better than them then, and we’ve shown way more this year than they have.
  • Week 5: Idaho @ UC Davis
Yeah and we have to remember they had a lot of guys out due to Covid protocols last time we played them.

  • FCS Polls Week 4
A lot of these teams used to be in the college division polls before the stated with the div 2 division 3 nomenclature. Delaware was always a team I wanted to see play because they ran the wing t.
  • FCS Polls Week 4
Few FCS teams would beat Weber and Tulsa, so that much about it is correct.
They probably still have some weight given to how strong these teams were at the end of last season, and those two were great and San Diego was respectable.
Its an interesting strength if schedule algorithm, as most would not overlook that we haven’t beat anyone with more than 1 win.
  • Week 4: UC Davis @ Weber State
The main advantage of the wildcat is that there are no spectators, like the QB usually is on a running play. So it’s a way to get more blockers than defenders at the point of attack.
Didn’t work so well with CJ but Biggs went with it to begin with with April because we had no short yardage run capability, because our line wasn’t physical.
  • Week 4: UC Davis @ Weber State
    It helps to have blockers
  • Week 4: UC Davis @ Weber State
Hastings surprised them and the receivers really made tough catches.
But it’s a little incongruous to here from a team that’s expecting their own backup QB to perform
  • Week 4: UC Davis @ Weber State
The article is worth reading just for the quarterback thinking Rogers was blitzing. We only rushed four.
    I bet he’s hurting today,
  • Week 4: UC Davis @ Weber State
The Weber QB thinks his hurry by Bryce Rodger was a blitz. Maybe a blitzkrieg. Rodgers wasn’t left unattended due to a blitz, he was hand fighting and got by the offensive lineman with a move. Came like a torpedo trailing an offensive linemen behind him in his wake
And did you know CJ Hutton fell down of his own accord?
And that on the roughing the passer, the defensive end “just came down in the vicinity” of Rodrigues. Its ok for a sportswriter to present his opinion, but to deny that there was any basis for the calls whatsoever is a little much Rodriguez was off balance from throwing off his back foot and got pushed by an extended arm intentionally. Not grievous but there was a basis for the call.

You can see on the video above that we only rushed four, Rodgers just beat his blocker in about 2 seconds
