He’s probably right about the more desperate team. I hope they feel the pressure. Both teams have played equivalent schedules. Difference is they lost one more than we did. One of the bright spots for Davis is our very young offensive line which gets better with experience,

I’m suspecting the crowd will be more into it than say Cal Poly and other teams we’ve played on the road this year.

Very insightful. Hope you are right about comparable to NAU an Montana,
It’s encouraging that we scored three first quarter touchdowns against NAU, as that seem like a defense that would match up well against us. Hopefully we saw NAU best effort. I know we saw Montana’s best effort, they were fired up.

He’s listed in the roster portion of the same document as 245.
It’s not that we can’t figure out his weight, it’s that they don’t care that they have the same typo in nine iterations of game notes.

At least he’s not obscured by fog !
  • Week 11: UC Davis @ Eastern Washington
This is the best FCS offensive team we’ve faced except for possibly Idaho State.
And probably the best FCS defense we’ve faced.
And this is in the second most adverse environment trailing only Montana. Add those together and it’s quite a challenge.
Possibly offsetting that, we are clearly the best offense they’ve faced and their young QB hasn’t won a game against a defense as good as ours.
All in all a very unpredictable meeting of two potentially explosive teams. I think either team might blow out the other. I can see almost anything happening except a low scoring game. If it is low scoring I think they win. A low scoring game implies they can contain our offense and I think they are too athletic for us to shut down completely.

In case anyone is interested in the game notes they are in the site but not visable on the football home page. You have to go through additional links -> game notes
I think they should be embarrassed that the notes depth chart still list Ocansey’s weight as 2345 lbs as they have done the previous 9 weeks.

Good question. One of the distinctive features of being a Davis fan is that information is scarce.

I don’t see why they would change much from his last couple of games in which they had him throw about 40 times each.
We’re not showing that we are incapable of stopping the run, by today’s standards. We’re 4th best in the Big Sky in rushing defense yards allowed and 3rd best yards per carry. Sure that’s still giving up four yards each but I don’t think they’ll see that as the primary way to attack us,

I think one or more early season games but after the students move in should be at night. Get the dorm kids to come as groups before they figure out what else they can do on weekends
Playing games near noon on Saturday is not festive. Games are a better college experience at party time, not as lazy summer afternoon. After it cools off in the fall schedule afternoon games

    yes they aren’t perfect.
We aren’t equal to Weber on defense either.
We have been chasing mobile quarterbacks around the last few weeks. It’s pretty tough to catch wide receivers with defensive linemen and linebackers
  • Week 11: UC Davis @ Eastern Washington
with NAU did you see us scoring three touchdowns in the first quarter?
That was impressive. Our team can be surprisingly good.
  • Week 11: UC Davis @ Eastern Washington
yep, a pickem game. They have more to lose than us. Throw the kitchen sink at them
  • Week 11: UC Davis @ Eastern Washington
I hope we consider ourselves underdogs on the road with little to lose and play loose, willing to take some chances. On offense “Basketball on grass” weather permitting.
Defense will do its thing, play lots of guys, forces turnovers, punts and failures in fourth down and win the fourth quarter like they’ve been doing.
  • Week 11: UC Davis @ Eastern Washington
we are first in the league in turnover margin.
Also first in conference in red zone defense.
We can’t expect a shutout but if we get some turnovers and stops and our offense scores as expected we win. That’s how this team has got to this record.
  • Week 10: Northern Arizona @ UC Davis
    I’ve seen nothing.
I watched the first quarter on replay and no image captured him getting injured. So a mystery.
    Hopefully he’ll be back.
On the plus side Modise seems more effective this year. This year’s line seems to be more effective and he’s very quick if he gets a little space. He seemed to have some success running between the tackles, which didn’t happen last year. I think he had the longest game against Stanford too. So he and Tehran still leave us with a run game
  • Week 10: Northern Arizona @ UC Davis
not noteworty that we tried to just run but noteworthy that they couldn’t stop it
  • Week 10: Northern Arizona @ UC Davis
sorry, I didn’t say what I meant. I meant our drive. Pretty impressive if NAU was still making an effort on D
  • Week 10: Northern Arizona @ UC Davis
What do you guys make of the long drive to end the game consisting solely of running plays. That was an unusual event.
Was NAU just discouraged or worn out?
