Just ‘cause it’s wierd doesn’t mean it’s not true.
There is a lot of competition at receiver.
I can see why he might think he had earned a lead spot after redshirting one year then a year where he didn’t play and then a good year last year. But we had guys returning from injury and new recruits. He seemed to add something though.
  • Complete 2019 Schedule and Beyond
if we are still talking about Moore, he wasn’t on the spring roster.. since he was a starter last fall and played a lot of minutes it is weird that he would leave the team over playing time. I assume he has some non football related reason.
  • FCS Bracketology
Yep, but there are a lot of FBS teams that we would be favored or narrow underdogs, Cal isn’t one of them.
I’m assuming their team matrix includes both FBS and FCS. The description above doesn’t show how the score fits in besides saying it does. I assume it is similar to the pure points methodology in Sagarin.
But it seems win/loss is a bigger factor than point differential.
  • FCS Bracketology
is SRS rating published weekly somewhere?
I like the formula. It doesn’t matter if you win by more than 21. However, It might give too much credit for winning an FBS game because that’s already factored in by the competitive score matrix; so we should schedule winnable FBS games, emphasis on winnable. Let’s play San Jose every year please And lower tier mountain west teams in place of PAC 12. Love it if we could play Reno regularly for historical and local reasons.
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
I’ve got to admit it was funner listening to the Montana announcers on the replay. Once you know we win their biased view doesn’t grate.
  • Week 10: Northern Arizona @ UC Davis
I’m not worried, it looks like an easy win. I wouldn’t put money on us winning by three touchdowns, we might, we might not.
  • Week 10: Northern Arizona @ UC Davis

NAU was picked third and still has the surrounding talent, just lacking QB. They played a freshman who didn’t even have fall practice due to injury then. So he’s obviously got a learning curve.
He might be much improved after a couple of weeks practice.
So assuming the defense is tough against pass in particular, and knowing they have good running attack, if qb doesn’t blow it for them, they might be better than these projections.
  • Week 10: Northern Arizona @ UC Davis
NAU like most of our Big Sky rivals seems to rely heavily on FBS transfers. They have a running back who was at Boise and had a qb who is no injured who was from Washington.
Meanwhile we have players who start with us now with UCLA who is their leading rusher and a DL at Arizona.
With the new more transfer friendly rules are we going to gain or continue to lose players?
Are there any self inflicted obstacles to us getting transfers from the other UC campuses?
  • WAC Exploring FCS Football
DixieState and NMSU need a home. Not our problem
  • Complete 2019 Schedule and Beyond
The wierd thing is that a photo of the back of a helmeted player was identified as being Logan Montgomery in the San Diego game

  • WAC Exploring FCS Football
who wouldn’t want to play Dixie state and New Mexico St. ?
    Really pointless.
  • Complete 2019 Schedule and Beyond
we have other receivers from 2018 class and also this year.
Biggest commit so far is a WR/tight end.
Have no clue about what’s the story with Montgomery or whether Moore is still asociated with the team.
But I think next year’s team will be better than this year’s. We have some other true frosh offensive linemen that will play, we’ve got our heavyweight
Suani, Trimble is really impactful etc. Lots of guys from Hawkins first two classes will step up and this year class will be better yet.
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
    Go Titans
One year in the late 70s Fullerton was the only team to beat San Diego State in a year where SDSU tied USC and annihilated 13th ranked Florida State yet didn’t get a bowl invite at 9-1-1
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
It wasn’t just the ankle incident of course. immediately before that they were slapping and clawing at Modise for ten seconds after he was down. Following a rough tackle well after he was stopped and the play should have been blown dead. That’s when things started to get heated in that possession.
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
They got quiet early in the fourth quarter.
What makes this win sweeter is they really gave us their best shot, we certainly didn’t sneak up on them. Fans were sky high, team was sky high, and now deflated. Sweet.
  • Complete 2019 Schedule and Beyond
Some of those teams are really weak this year. Lehigh may be the weakest team we’ve played in recent years, and both Montana schools will be coming off bad years, and Sac, Poly, Portland St,. and Southrn Utah are having horrible years.

Barring key injury, It looks like two games in which we’ll be heavy underdogs, Cal and NDSU, two where it will be near even,Weber and ND, and then we’ll be favored over the rest. Not to hard to see us with eight wins.
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
I heard the announcers claim UCD representatives in interviews claimed Stanford experience would prepare the team for the noise.
Plough on the otherhand specifically talked about how the noise had messed up his teams game plan when he was OC at NAU. I’m sure that voice was heard by Hawkins
So it was probably just some players saying they had experience in adverse environments taken out of context.
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
I watched most the game again and the homerism didn’t seem so bad. It was however frustrating because the story was all from the Montana perspective in the sense of not giving names of Aggies who made plays. Take Gillian’s catch near out of bounds around the 10 for example, give the guys name.
