• UC Davis Ranked #6 in STATS FCS Poll
When we beat a team it just means they weren’t any good
    Just kidding
But it is noteworthy that our schedule is much tougher than Kennesaw, whoever that is.

spencer caught our touchdown at Stanford
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
He played QB his senior year and wide receiver prior.
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
Crawford is quite an addition. Big game from him even aside from the WR pass which was nicely thrown. Five catches 61 yards and a touchdown. Not bad for the fourth or fifth receiver.
I was hoping they were going to keep having him throw the ball even though in previous games it didn’t work.
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
Hawkins is the perfect coach for us. He is always touting the school and our history. That’s going to help with recruiting and support. He has credibility with that as an alum who’s been around.
  • Gage Gubrud Out For Season
I don’t think they’ll give him a sixth year, so he’s probably done in college.
  • UC Davis Ranked #6 in STATS FCS Poll
If they could have the same size traveling numbers then they would be fine
  • UC Davis Ranked #6 in STATS FCS Poll
They would be favored against all by 20 or so of them.

top 90, jumping 12 teams. Just two below Nebraska! The world turned upside down
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
These homer announcers are really a pain
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
Is the 3-3-5 their base defense, or something different for us?
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
Because they are on the cusp of making the playoffs, win or lose this game, the next game and the game after that and the game after that will all be the most important yet; because they are finally playing games that relate to getting into the playoffs and the playoff seeding.
At the end of the year we can decide how good we were.
One of my hopes for this year is that the team gets a win on the road against a conference team we haven’t beaten yet. That’s really the only reason this game is more important than say NAU. But next week it won’t seem that way.
  • 2019 Recruiting List
I think it predates the two character state postal code
You weren’t thinking UCB were you?
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
There are people who aren’t going to pick us over Montana until we’ve beat them once.
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
Funny how most of the bottom teams in pass defense, efficiency (see above) have played us, I wonder if there is a causal relationship there.
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
we looked good, but Stanford hadn’t given up a TD in the seven quarters before our game and Maier & Co. couldn’t end that streak. They also stuffed the run pretty good except for a good gain by Modise.

We’re better in pass defense efficiency,
Not great but better than Montana.

yep, but only in yardage. Teams have thrown more against us bexause they are behind. We are #2 against the run because there are relatively less run plays.
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
A lot of discussion about strength of schedule.
    From eastbayaggie on another thread.

    Stanford #24
    UC Davis #98
    Eastern Washington #105
    Idaho State #130
    Montana #147
    Idaho #152
    San Jose State #154
    Northern Arizona #172
    Cal Poly #187
    San Diego #189
    Sacramento State #199
    Northern Colorado #206

If you buy the Massey rankings, the Montana competition is at the same level as Idaho and San Jose state.
So the venue and fans are the new elements plus the long distance road game.
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
Have to admit Stanford stopped us until garbage time. We looked like we belonged on the field with them but got 3 points.
But the good thing is we are not going to see a level of athleticism that we haven’t seen before. Or anything close.
