Whew, bring on the Titans. That Sevilla is tough. I sure hope he can go tomorrow. Telling stat: Gauchos' A/TA was .42, Ags 1.3. Did any of you watching the game on ESPN+ get the impression that the commentators were pulling for Santa Barbara?
I was wrong about the Gauchos hitting more 3s in the second half, but it's hard to believe how bad they've been from out there. If we win, that will be one of the main reasons. The other one being Daughtery's shooting.
UCSB gas only made one trey. I don't expect that to continue. If Daughtery can keep his hot hand and we can get a couple from Conner, though, we cold pull this one out. Unfortunatetly, this team has lost a lot of games this season in the second half.
I recall that against Cal Poly last year, the team's lack of depth and injuries resulted in a second half in which the guys were exhausted. While we have injuries again this year, the depth probably means they won't collapse in the second half.
IMHO, the Ags played pretty well and, in the first half, the Anteaters played poorly but UCI came out in the second half and played more like a first place team.
Hard to find fault with the way the Ags played. Irvine was solid in the second half an OT. Overall they had a huge advantage in both rebounds (48-24) and free throws (19-6). It's almost amazing that it even got into overtime. And who woud have guessed that Niko wold have 20 and Conner 0?
