    Games of Thursday, Nov. 5:

    UC Riverside (5-4 ) 68, CSUN (home, 6-3) 64
    UC San Diego (7-2) 84, UC Santa Barbara (home,6-2 ) 76
    UC Irvine (home,9-0 ) 82, CSU Bakersfield (4-5) 66
    Long Beach State (2-8 ) 73, CSU Fullerton (home, 2-7) 56
It's worth noting that all four home teams (including UCI) trailed at some point in the second halves.

Good to see the Ags play better defense (18 steals) and moving the ball around better on offense (18 assists) in comparison to their previous three games. Good thing to have in league play, even though it took nearly a half for them to find it.

I have tended to disagree that TY has been held down only by the tough defense they've been throwing at him. While it may have been a factor, I think it has been just as critical that he seemed to have lost some confidence after the Grand Canyon game. His performance tonight, after an egregious start suggests that he might have gotten his mojo back. It certainly helps that he had a lot more offensive support from Sevilla, Tamba, Daughtery and DeBruhl.

This kid Unuakhalu has spring! He and Rocak both get up there quickly.

I tuned in an hour late but sped my way through the first half in disbelief at both the poor shooting by the Ags and the rate of turnovers by Cal Poly. It was almost a comedy through the first 14 minutes. I don't know how they did it, but they really flipped the switch especially in the second half. Sevilla is impressive.
  • Rd.2 PLAYOFFS Week 15: UC Davis vs. Illinois State
I have absolutely no clue as to why the current student body is not attending such a big game, but I do remember that it was impossible to get a seat at Toomey Field when I was there if you arrived just before kickoff. I wonder if the past availability of seats simply means that a lot of students plan to just show up on game day? It will be sad if a campus with 30,000+ students can't fill the stadium.

ESPN lists UC Davis as only a 1.5 point favorite over Cal Poly.

I just noticed that the Big West has scheduled opening conference play this coming week, but does not resume until January. Does anyone know why?

Thanks guys. So the Ivy League is a bunch of snobs and the SWAC is going with tradition. I get it.

I agree we're usually outgunned in the front court, but that's how Coach Les seems to like it. Pablo Tamba has been provided some front court offense, averaging 12.3 ppg. I notice how Rocak will often feint a shot, but he hardly ever takes a shot from more than 5 feet from the hoop. Chappell has potential, but you can't expect a lot fro a freshman. I think a major problem is the lack of ball movement, as the Ags are averaging less than 10 assists per game.

I thought FCS conference champions got an automatic berth. Why weren't Harvard and Jackson State in the playoffs?
  • Rd.2 PLAYOFFS Week 15: UC Davis vs. Illinois State
I'd think Mercer v. Rhode Island would be a tighter game, but I'm only going by the seedings 7/10.
  • Big West Scores
I don't mind at all if you want to take this over for all the conference games.

  • MBB: UC Davis (3-3) at Oregon State (4-2) Saturday, Nov. 30 at 7:00 pm
Even worse than expected and I expected the worst. Bring on the Big West and hope the last three games provided some lessons on how not to lose.
  • MBB: UC Davis (3-3) at Oregon State (4-2) Saturday, Nov. 30 at 7:00 pm
Since the first 5 minutes or so, the Aggies have hung with the Beavers pretty well. Down 13 at the half after being down 10 with 15v minutes to go. The 3 point shooting has kept them in the game, but for the third consecutive game, TY is not playing very well on offense; he's in some kind of slump.

OSU's size is also showing in their 10-3 rebounding edge.
