UCSB was 0 for 2 since I posted that. On BigWestTV, the commentator said they need to make half time adjustments, but you don't wait until half time. Les seems to have stopped trying to force the ball inside to Russell who is no Moneke in there. They've also gone to a man to man to defend the perimeter but the Gauchos have been abel to get some easy shots inside due to some good play by their offense. Ags can still pull this out if they continue to play tight defense to create turnovers, but they also need to be more efficient on offense. They're not doing badly hitting 6 for 11 from 3 but 7 for 19 from closer to the hoop.

Gauchos very hot from beyond the arc. 8/11 at this point. Even with Moneke their 19 game home winning streak would be in trouble.

It states that the University has not disclosed what Chima did, but the article does note that Coach Les made the decision to suspend him. It was not the result of any University action. Finally, the story states that the University's Judicial Affairs Office in handling the situation and that they are trying to talk to people in Southern California. I presume that means the staff of Warner Center Marriott where the team was staying.

Assuming that the Aggies can make the tournament (huge assumption, I know), anything would be better than a 16 seed, especially as a play-in team.

UC Davis' RPI rating is now 83. Time to start wondering what their seed might be if they make it into the NCAA tournament?

I totally agree with you that that was a very gutsy win by the Aggies. On reflection, the whole team made the effort to keep it close enough for Shorts to win the game on that incredible basket. All 9 guys who played scored and every one of them except Hennings got a rebound. They also only made 6 turnovers after the opening minutes. All of this, too, after Moneke got suspended and you have to believe that their original game plan included Chima, so the coaches had to have made some great adjustments.

Unbelievable! This was a game for the ages. Most exciting finish I've seen for an Aggie game since 1969.

I finally got a chance to go on BigWestTV. It's half-time and the Ags clearly miss Chima, but Shorts is doing a great job penetrating and Schneider is holding up his end of offense. The 49ers have a big edge on the boards. I'm sure that the game will go down to the wire. Has anyone noticed the huge screen on the Pyramid's wall behind the backboard? Gotta be a distraction for the foul shooters with some the images on there. I want to see what is there when Long Beach is on the line.

I notice that A. J. John went 3 for 4 from beyond the arc last night. When I saw him i Hawaii I was impressed by the flow of his shot. He seems to have great confidence when he rises to shoot and his form is very good. I wonder if he is rounding into a real perimeter threat. The biggest problem the offense has is a lack of consistent perimeter scoring.

Well, my preference was to have stayed in Davis, but I got married out here and pretty much lived her for half my life. It's hard to portray a place in a few words, but here are a few thoughts: It's warm all of the time, people here are very friendly and polite, the population is very diverse, the politics are very liberal, the cost of living is similar to the Bay Area, you cannot drive more than 40 miles in one direction and we get occasional false alarms about nuclear missiles.

Anyone know the actual attendance at the game? I a mystified why the students are not showing up for a team that is a proven winner. Most times, when a team has made school history by getting to the NCAAs then their coach does a truly outstanding job in reshaping a squad who lost 4 starters, you'd think the fans would come. When I was there, we used to pack Hickey Jim, SRO. Also, I was glad to see Chima come back from a poor outing in Hawaii. Did CSUN try to pack a zone around him like Hawaii did?

Goags, You are definitely correct. I am sorry but I do tend to get sloppy at times and I am not familiar with this player.

In answer to 69Aggie, the coach from 1967 through 1989 was Bob Hamilton for whom they named Hamilton Court. He won 301 games at UCD. I loved to watch him throw his towel, stomp on the floor, but never yell at the refs. I probably saw about 50 of his victories including all of them in 1972-73 when I handled the stats for the campus' radio broadcasts of the games.

The asterisk* shows players who were on the team at least part of the time that the Ags were in Div. I and I want to suggest that a more fair way to decide who the best payers were is to separate the DIv I and Div II players. Al Budde, who was an ferocious board man, was only 6'5" and would have had trouble starting for a Div I team. Corey Hawkins would not have played for Davis in Div. II.

I am beginning to suspect that Hawaii fans are starting to think of UC Davis as one of the "bad guys" in the Big West, even though the Warriors are 6-2 out here vs the Aggies. I do not think the Hawaii coach contributes to this, since he is pretty low key. The true Hawaii fans have long memories though and they still remember the time Corey Hawkins & Co. stormed a hail of threes back in 2013 or the game in which Coach Les left early to protect his players. This could develop into a rivalry. It's too bad, but nothing will stop me from going to each game the Ags play here wearing my colors. I look forward to it. I messed up on every post I wrote about this game, but I use my excitement as an excuse.

Just got back from watching the game in person. I must have been at over a hundred college basketball games in my life between being in Davis and Hawaii, but I have never seen such bad officiating. If any of you saw it on BigWest TV and could not believe what you were seeing, believe it. The only good thing about it was that the refs (one in particular) called it bad both ways. I've never seen a Hawaii crowd get that worked up before (and I've been going to games here since 1974). They were more upset with the refs than booing the Aggie players.

Still, you can't blame the outcome on the refs. UCD was very sloppy, Chima especially. He had a lot of trouble handling the ball inside. A lot of this was due to a zone that collapsed on him, but he must have had a half dozen turnovers for game. In my opinion, though, the Aggies literally threw the game away int he first half when they made a lot of very sloppy passes. On the other hand, I have to give credit to Hawaii's back up backcourt players. Green (#0) and Buggs (#1) played much better than expected given that their regular starting point guard was hurt. My biggest concern was that Jack Purchase (#12) would get hot and he did. He's easily Hawaii's best shooter and not onluy did he make a lot of jump shots, but hit all (I think) of his free throws in the clutch.

The Aggies should be able to turn the table on Hawaii when the Warriors come to the Pavilion.
