  • 2026 Week 1: UC Davis @ Portland State
    Cleeland looks better already.
  • 2026 Week 1: UC Davis @ Portland State
I will never give up on the Aggies after I did once in 1971 when they were down by 15 with only 3 minutes left against what was then Cal State Hayward. Go Ags! Come all the way back in the second half.

    What happened to Rex Conners?
  • 2026 Week 1: UC Davis @ Portland State
It's not just on the quarterback. The defense has allowed 215 yards and special teams has given up a TD and gained only 60 yards on punt/KO returns. Time for a lot of second half corrections.

Black and white? I only see whites.
  • 2026 Week 1: UC Davis @ Portland State
The game is on at 9 am in Hawaii so I won't be able to watch it live, but I'll tune in by the second quarter. I won't be posting anything until after the game is over.

Her's the current roster for the men's team:

It can be found on ESPN, but it still shows Carl on the team.

  • 2026 Preseason Thread
Does anyone know if there is an alternative to paying ESPN+ for an unreliable and poorly produced broadcast of Aggie games? I could only find that ESPN will broadcast the game v. Eastern Washington.

Looks like we're finally looking a bit more competitive!
  • NCAA Tournament Expands to 76 Teams for MBB & WBB
    ↪eastbayaggie
It isn't what I call it. I call it a format very similar to football's FCS and FBS playoffs.

    ↪eastbayaggie
Not really. The lesser group would only consist of teams from the weaker conferences, such as the Southwest Athletic conference, the WAC or the Summit Conference. The NIT usually inclues several teams from the Big !0, SEC, etc.
  • NCAA Tournament Expands to 76 Teams for MBB & WBB
I've always thought that the NCAA should divide the tournament into two levels as they do with football. Maybe a 32 team tournament for 1AA and a 48 team tournament for 1A or even two 64 team tournaments. There are conferences at the lower levels that have hardly won a single round one game let alone gotten to the sweet 16.

Just for a change of pace, note that Hawai`i has been aggressively pursuing transfers for next season after losing just about their whole team from last season's Big West championship team. See:

I'm not sure, but I think Eli Pepper was recruited heavily even though he never entered the portal and something like that probably happened to a lot of the footballers. What can I say? I'm an incurable optimist.

Is it necessarily the case that a player who enters the transfer portal winds up actually transferring? Didn't we have a few recently who entered but returned?

I expect that big men are more of a premium in the MWC, so I hope Coach Les can get over his recalcitrance in recruiting some guys that are 6'10" plus. You know that old saying: "You can't coach height."
  • March Madness
I just noticed that Brayden Fagbemi has a brother, Blake, who plays for Illinois and is now in the Sweet 16. I imagine that Scott Marsh mentioned this last season, but I missed (or forgot) it.
  • March Madness
And then there were none as Hawai`i gets smoked by Arkansas. It was never a contest and even though I've seen teams get behind 15-2 or so in the first 5 minutes, it was obvious that the Razorbacks just had too much athleticism for the Rainbow Warriors. The local paper seemed to be preparing the fans here for it as they lauded the U of A star gurard, Acuff and noted that Calipari makes $8.5 million vs. Eran Ganot's $300k. (copied from a different stream after I saw this one)
  • Coaching futures: Does UC Davis keep Jim Les for next season?
Don't change horses in the middle of a transition.
