I have faith in the culture that has been built to keep players around. If these guys are having a great experience playing a lot and winning games with their boys, that's tough to beat. All these guys seem like they really love the program. It gets me fired up as an alum just watching it.
I'd imagine its a different situation all together at an FBS football factory.

As for Pinnick, he's gets to be the man on the gridiron and on the baseball team playing CF. Fam gets to see every game. Tough situation to beat. Hopefully the program can find some $ to help him stay. But I got a good feeling about guys continuing to stick around especially if they see Plough ignore the Cal job. That would be good for morale.

I haven't liked how everything has progressively gotten further from the court since I was a student.

There are always going to be people who doubt Cal (and Stanford) football.
Conferences will realign again, but I don't think anyone really believes Cal football is going anywhere.

Gould kept his house in Pleasant Hill when he took the Davis job (at least for a while) and commuted out to Davis. It not crazy to think Plough could keep the fam in Davis and spend long days in Berkeley.

Their board keeps saying their "bad loss" to Brown kept them seeded behind Davis. Davis had a "bad loss" as well to Idaho State, which likely kept us out of Lehigh's #5 seed.

I agree- great opportunity. NDSU is probably the only team non-FCS fans will tune in to watch. That's a big deal!

Cal is actually a scenario I could see Plough going for…..but hopefully not this go-around.

"Battle of the Blue" Delaware vs. Villanova. UD moved up this year. No game next year...
"Battle of the Piney Woods" Sam Houston vs. SFA. Sam moved up in '23 and they haven't played since (no future games scheduled yet)
William & Mary vs. JMU since 1978. Haven't played since '21 when JMU moved up.

This one is a head scratcher for me. Overall, CP has become a tough game again. Things seemed to be moving in the right direction. Starting over seems like a bad idea.

Oh, I definitely agree. They spit on the Big Sky by leaving early. BSC probably won't even pick up the phone. But if I'm Sac I might start begging.

I was going to ask them if they (if they were to remain FCS) would want to play FBS San Jose State every year @ SJSU for $350k and go about 2-13 over the next 15 years, leaving about $5 million on the table....as well as program exposure.

But there is only one guy on that board that is interested in logical conversation.

The biggest problem, for me (aside from the $), is playing a rivalry game at their place every year. Never playing the game at home is dumb.

I actually agree with this. It might not be too late to scrap the entire thing and do it the right way. It might be in the best interest of the CSU. I question CSUS's leadership at the moment.
