  • FCS Playoffs Quarterfinals: Illinois State (10-4) @ #8 UC Davis (9-3)
    Regarding last year's matchup:
"[Lan Larison] he was...it was a nightmare....that whole part of it"
I thought that was pretty funny.

He says Davis was bigger and faster in person than he was expecting last year after watching on film. I feel like West Coast BSC teams still get labeled as "weak" or "soft" ...but that's changing.

I randomly went back and breezed through some old Causeway games on YouTube.

From the first Big Sky season in 2012 to now, the jump in the athletic ability of Davis players has been astounding. In those years, Davis had a few guys on each side of the ball that could really ball, and things were not very competitive vs. BSC opponents. Starting in 2017 things started to take off. Now Plough is on fire. FCS top-10 talent all over the field.

Even as frustrated as folks get with the limitations the program faces, its great to see the exponential improvement. Things have come a long way.

and Simpson has been very impressive at times.Pacifico2

Love Simpson's edge as well.....he's drawn a couple flags for it over the past couple years, but love the heart.

This is why we've been talking about getting a tailgate spot for next season and putting the AST banner back up.
This is something we used to do in the old tailgate lot (where Biggs Field is presently). Feels like its been a loooooong time!

If Vargas can return to form and go for 1,000 in 2026 along side Fisher, who knows what the market will be for him (and Fisher for his last year of eligibility). No brainer from my point of view to return to Davis, especially coming off a knee injury.

Getting way ahead here but......Fisher would be a grad transfer for the 2027 season, yes? (redshirted in '24?) That's the perfect model right there: kill it at Davis and earn your degree, then transfer for the gravy on top.

I've heard in a few instances this becomes the case. These guys tend to think everyone is getting $500k-$1mil to transfer. It doesn't sound like that's the market for FCS guys.

Only watched the first 2 minutes. Everyone seems to be in love with Tarleton State right now. Sleeping on the Aggies (probably because of the televised MSU loss in November).

Underdog status is just fine with me. We have as good a shot to get to Nashville as any team. I'm not understanding the Villanova love. I'm not sold on the CAA as being on-par with the Big Sky (even this year).
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
I won't even watch it. But yeah, the guy seriously needs to be held accountable by the local media at this point.

The Sac board hates any kind of Sac Bee op-ed or local news scrutiny, yet they express dissent toward Wood on their board. Weird.

Wild that this is the stuff a D1 program deals with.

The things that make Davis great far outweigh this type of thing though, thankfully (for now). The guys seem to really love the program. Plough is doing things the right way.
  • FCS Playoffs Round 2: #9 Rhode Island (11-2) @ #8 UC Davis (8-3)
I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned Kai Acia. He had 9 tough carries mostly up the middle for ~4 per carry. He played an important role keeping some drives moving. He's done a good job as RB2 after being #4 on the depth chart to start the season.

"Build a great environment and your guys will want to stay" Plough has the right idea when it comes to the transfer era. Try to encourage the young bucks to stick for 2-3 years for the many great reasons he stated in the presser, and help the older guys realize their dreams if they want to leave. The key is always keep it about the kids and their best interest. Can't lose.

It appears this was made before Carter injured his knee. Undeniable talent for so.

These are great ideas. Great job.

    Redbirds win!!

Anyone would rather play ISU over NDSU, but ISU is definitely stronger than when the Ags beat them last year.
