  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
I could see Davis going over to Sac in the first 3 games nearly every season as an FCS team.
It'll be a different looking matchup for Davis.

if the spring roster on the website is correct, number 10 Jayden Stanley made a couple really nice plays at cornerback. One was a good open field tackle on Dobbins and the other was a pass break up near the goal line.

Pinnick’s play was encouraging. He ran for a touchdown and threw That beautiful touchdown pass.

It’s hard to say with Harper because I had to leave pretty early on. The defense looked pretty damn good, but you know they had a pretty Good idea what was coming I’m sure.

I did not see Wrighster play at all before I left. I saw about 20 minutes of football

At the Spring Game. Crowd looks good
  • Sacramento Kings star Mike Bibby to become Sacramento State's men's basketball coach
It was Jim Les/Hersey Hawkins NBA connection that brought Corey to Davis for the '12-'13 season (Les' 2nd year).

Payne and Harden were GREAT Stewart recruits. He did some good things for the program.

I always thought it was interesting Tyler Les ended up at Davis from Illinois the season before his dad got here.

Painful memory: Les' first year, the Aggies lost 21 straight D1 games (got an early D2 win vs. UCSC)

Now that Sac is moving to FBS, I like to compare Sac to Fresno State. Fresno State is primarily a commuter school and they've had big attendance success in the past. The key ingredient is winning. I saw some pretty sparse attendance in the past few years with more losses.

Its hard to say if Sac can match Fresno State in football/basketball attendance though. Fresno and Sac are pretty different towns in a few ways - there seems to be a connection between the Valley and FSU athletics- this is lacking bigtime with Sac. Fresno's surrounding areas (counties) may have a higher population which helps.

I like what they are doing with season tickets. I got the email this morning....

"New Alumni: 2016 grads and later $100"

"Section 126 Bartop seating $350 each"

Scary is right. This entire thing has been all over the place. To say this thing is on shaky ground is an understatement. We'll see how it all plays out I guess!

  • Jon Wilner article on NCAA chaos
I like the more manageable geographical conference idea for the rest of us....And imagine what this could look like in 30 years.....
  • Jon Wilner article on NCAA chaos
    10 years?
Also, I admit I didn't read the article (shame!)
  • Jon Wilner article on NCAA chaos
This is extreme, but,...at the present trajectory, and with no guardrails.....it feels like we are headed for a completely different college sports landscape within the next 5-10 years (?) *corrected per DrMike*:

DI - "Power 4" ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, and SEC (professional 'collegiate' athletes)
DII - Everyone else (scholarship / non-scholarship athletes)
DIII - Everyone who was DII

This would be near-destruction of traditional college athletics for the sake of the 4-conference-revenue-machine....unless someone steps in and does something
