  • Rematch at Fullerton
absolutely. Of course most of the points in the paint came from drives, mostly from Fuller and to a lesser extent Peppers. Fullerton was forced to slough off the perimeter and that left printup wide open early. They still tried to stay on Mooney and Gonzo but it seemed like our secondary shooters were getting the shots. Gonzo still got some shots off as he has a much faster trigger, while Joe was more content to help move the ball around. Honestly this was the best we’ve looked offensively in a while

Great overall win tonight. Fuller was so much more aggressive then he has been. Funny we didn’t need joe tonight. Everyone else was working so well. Big win!

It’ll be interesting to see if Les continues with the altered starting lineup. Seems like it gives us a better defensive team out there initially. Plus a lot of firepower off the bench. Let go Ags!
  • Rematch vs. Irvine
I wish both Adeybayo and Fuller would be more consistent on the offensive side. Both will make a move or two that's really impressive, then they will disappear for a while. If either one becomes more consistently aggressive driving to the basket, then that would open up the outside for both Joe and Stephan.

Wondering if Gonzo will be back. I agree that logically this will be an up hill battle. But I always think back a few years when UCI beat us by 30 and a week later we beat them to win the BWT. And we do seem to be playing better on the road this year (for whatever reason). Hopefully we give it an A+ effort.

By the way, looked like sharpshooting recruit Austin Patterson was in attendance tonight. He was hanging out with the current redshirts before the game. We'll see if he commits soon.

poly helped by missing a lot of open shots in the second half. But we came through when we needed to. Good to see printup contribute again. Manjons dunk finally got the crowd going
  • WBB: UC Santa Barbara (8-11, 3-3) at UCD (10-9, 5-1) 2:30 pm Saturday, February 1st
one of the more entertaining games I’ve seen in a while. Both teams hustled and hit shots. Good win for the Ags!

33-32 UCSB at half. Both teams playing well. We need to tighten up on defense a bit but overall entertaining half.

I've got to think you're right about a grad transfer. There's no way that we head into next year with just Koehler as a proven big man. Even if Murphy and Harris contribute, that still leaves us severely undersized. We are losing 4 players, plus the scholarship from Gerhke, and only added so far one player, which means we have 4 spots left (unless they give a scholarship to a current walk-on like Shaw). Hopefully we get multiple big guys.

It was good to see Printup out there, and he does work hard on defense, and hit a 3. But it seems unfair of Les to not even play the guy a minute for many weeks then expect him to play great against UCI. You KNOW you are going to need his help so give him minutes here and there (of course, this is assuming he wasn't injured). I know a lot goes into the rotation that I don't see, it's just frustrating to watch.

Lot of pressure to win on Saturday. Have to stay out of that 9th spot!
  • WBB: CSUN (9-10, 4-1) at UCD (9-9, 4-1) 6 pm Wednesday, January 29th
Totally agree. It was fun to watch this team last night. They struggled initially with CSUN's full court pressure and zone, but Coach Gross put the right players in the right positions to beat it. Once the team started to feel comfortable and confident, they just picked it apart and CSUN couldn't do anything to stop us.

The staff definitely has this program humming right now. Yes we lose great players, but players that were either part timers before, or new to the program, step up and produce. Next year we lose 3 talented seniors (maybe only two if Bessolo gets a medical RS) but we have a ton of incoming height and talent.

It seems that the next hurdle for the program is to start to compete regularly with Pac-12 schools. We hung with Stanford this year, which was nice, but traditionally most of our encounters have been blow outs. We need to consistently play at that level and occasionally knock one off. Perhaps that'll lead to better seeds if/when we make the tourney.
  • WBB: CSUN (9-10, 4-1) at UCD (9-9, 4-1) 6 pm Wednesday, January 29th
Gibb had a nice stretch. She has a good touch around the basket and really gets the team excited when she makes a play. Given her injury history it’s awesome to see her play well.
  • WBB: CSUN (9-10, 4-1) at UCD (9-9, 4-1) 6 pm Wednesday, January 29th
They finally figured out how to get open shots against the Csun zone. Refs must have a plane to catch as they are hardly calling anything
  • WBB: CSUN (9-10, 4-1) at UCD (9-9, 4-1) 6 pm Wednesday, January 29th
I think I'll try and make it out to this game. I haven't seen CSUN play this year but we seem to have pretty close games with them in general. We'll need to hit more outside shots and hold on to the ball.

    Protect the Pavilion!
  • MBB: UCD (8-12) at Hawaii (12-6), Saturday, Jan. 25 at 9 p.m. PST
yeah that was definitely the turning point. It’s too bad because I thought squire had played a really solid game. Both he, and of course Manjon, did a nice job being aggressive towards the basket and drawing fouls on their bigs.
  • MBB: UCD (8-12) at Hawaii (12-6), Saturday, Jan. 25 at 9 p.m. PST
Very physical game. A little worried about our bigs getting in foul trouble. On offense we have to continue to try and drive.
  • WBB: Aggies (8-9, 3-1) at Cal Poly (4-11, 1-3) 2 pm Saturday, January 25th
Ugly win, but better than an ugly loss. I thought Song made the two key plays. She made a nice on-ball defense which forced their PG to throw the ball away which lead to the basket that put us ahead to stay. Then she hit the 3 that extended the lead from 3 to 6 points, which in this game, was insurmountable.
  • WBB: Aggies (8-9, 3-1) at Cal Poly (4-11, 1-3) 2 pm Saturday, January 25th
Rough game to watch. Bad passes on both sides. Terrible shooting. Ags down 31-30 after 3
